Ok, I didn't see the first one (and don't plan on seeing the second) but maybe someone can help clear this up for me-----
Aren't anacondas native only to countries in South America? Because I think the follow up movie is in Indonesia or something. I'm so confused . . .
-
Tarantulas!
Yes. One of the many errors - setting the bloody film in Borneo.
-
like somebody said about the movie on here : there will probaly be some good reason why the snake/snakes are there, just like the movie "boa" where the snake is in ANTARTICA !
-
If you are referring to Anacondas, I was gonna post this huge post earlier today but decided against it. But seeing as it popped up anyway I'll just say a few things.
Lets just go by the trailer shall we. They are saying 50 Feet Long 450lbs *i think* and traveling at 150 ft per second... And its not even a single Anaconda, its an orgy of them. Are you kidding me? This just seems silly to me now that I am so interested in snakes. I couldn't care less before, but now it bothers me. To me it seems like they are trying to potray big snakes as huge killing machines. When is the last time you saw a 50 foot anaconda, let alone a group of them? You never did, cause they don't exist. And if they do, nobody has ever seen them. 99% of all the worlds giant animals have been discovered by experts estimates. The chances of finding another one after all this time of looking is slim. o_O The longest snake ever recorded was just over 40' and that was a retic if I'm not mistaken. And Black Mamba's are the fastest snakes, at least on land. It seems to me like they just balled all these snakes together and turned it into a movie.
-
I look at these movies about like Attack of the 50 Foot Woman -- not to be taken one iota more seriously. My kids watch this and go, "why does the snake make so much noise? and why is it chasing her? and why doesn't she just go behind something cold?"
-
But its a theatrical classic, the finest piece of film making i've ever seen ....................................... NOT ;)
-
I beg to differ, 'Attack of the Killer Tomotoes' had to be the finest piece of film making ever!
-
In all reality its .... Army of Darkness. :worship: And for those of you that havent seen that movie .... shame on you :nana:

Hey, you can't forget Godzilla!

HollyWood... = Uncle Sams right hand man
I know it sounds a bit far fetched , but I have always been convinced that government and the movie industry have been hand in hand to a degree to curb legislature.... think about it
-
No shot Robert! It all depends, of course, on which side is in government. When the Republicans & Conservatives hold office, Hollywood's only desire is to make the government look as bad as possible whether warranted or not. When the Democrats & Liberals are in office, Hollywood's only desire is to make them look as good as possible, whether warranted or not!
-
Unless, of course, Reagan is the office-holder in question, in which case Hollywood goes out of their way to support their own.
-
I have to agree with you there eddie! I should have specified which party
The press are the same

Just from the movie previews it is about as real as Alien v Predator or Pete's dragon. It is hollywood taking peoples unfounded fear of what they don't understand and trying to capitalize on it. Just to "beat a dead horse" 150' per second x 60 second is 9000 feet per minute, 9000 feet per minute x 60 minutes is 540,000 feet per hour or 102.2 miles per hour. Come on hollywood what happened to research ???

When I saw that trailer I just laughed hysterically I mean didn't these people go to at least a Zoo to see how Anaconda's behave. I have never seen a Green Anaconda in the wild but I'm pretty sure they
1. Don't get 60 feet long
2. Slither at 45 Mph
3. Specifically constrict someone then release and then grab their head and twist it to break the prey's neck.
I am a huge Sci-Fi fan so I know all about "suspension of disbelief" but this is a tad ridiculus

You know what makes me mad? how after people see these movies, they think they know everything about that snake. movies like that actually make people BELIEVE that snakes are killing machines! i'll mention i have a ball python to some one and they'll go "OMG, YOU HAVE A PYTHON?! ARENT YOU SCARED IT'LL BITE YOU AND TRY KILLING YOU? You know they can constrict!?!?! i saw in this movie once....." I'm like "ummm.... no." it just really bothers me! it's like hollywood producers will pick on ANYTHING to make money. next, they're going to have man eating kids. so when some one has a baby, some one else will say "OMG, YOU ACTUALLY HAVE A BABY?? THEY BITE, THEY CAN ATTACK WITH RATTLES!! I saw in this movie once...."
Gah. Pathetic.

More often than not when somone finds out I have snakes one of the first questions out of their mouths is "How big are they?/Aren't you afraid they will get out and kill you?"
I usually laugh and explain what exactly I have. Yeah I can see it now I was head shy/tounge flicked to death by my Ball Python.
