skinny?
I just took my butter girl out and noticed she seems kind of skinny. Her belly doesnt cave in our anything and she has a good shape when placed on a flat surface. She is about 7-8 months old and about 2' 7" long. My phone's being stupid right now so I can't link the picture but it's in the gallery. I'll link it later on the computer.:snake: she's about 2 1/2" Wide. I know it wont really do any good without pictures but I just needed to get this posted before I forgot about it.

Re: skinny?
If you can see her spine easily, and Shea more of a triangle than round, she's to thon and you need to do larger prey items or more often. She should be fed an item the size if her widest part of her body once weekly at least if not every 5 days, till she's able to do small rats then once a week, medium rats once every other

Re: skinny?
I can't really see her spine, I mean, I can see the spine but not like, seeing the spine on a skinny person, more like, well, I'm sure you get the point...it doesn't look or feel bony. She has more of a round shape to her and I've tried offering small rats weekly but she will only eat them every other week and the medium ones were too big. So, basically, she seems fine other than her girth and rats small rats every other week. I think I'm just being a paranoid mommy. That, and I keep forgetting that they get longer before they start building up their girth...when do they start getting fatter rather than longer?

She looks fine and healthy to me! Or, if she does seem a bit peckish in person, you could always bump her up a prey size. Do you have a gram scale? An exact weight would help us determine if she's proportionate.

Well, let's see:
1 Lemondrop = 0.1oz, = 2.84g
43 Lemondrops = 122.12g
I do hope that your snake weighs more than that at 2 and a half feet, haha.
Investing in a gram scale would be your best bet to see if she's on par for weight by the numbers. You can get them at walmart, in the food appliances section! (http://www.walmart.com/ip/The-Bigges...acity/11090896) This would be fine for awhile, at least a couple years!

either we have giant lemondrops here or you have tiny lemondrops there. our lemondrops are wayyyy bigger than one tenth of an ounce.

Haha, that was the only number I managed to find! Gimme the benefit of the doubt here :P

Easy! Grab a plastic bowl/tupperware container, and place it on the scale first, then zero out the scale (they usually have a button for that, if not maybe try turniing it off and back on.) then gather your snake into it the best you can. Nessie doesn't like to sit still either, I usually have to make a canopy over the bowl with my hands without touching her, just to encourage her to stay in for a second while the reading settles out.

See if you can get her to eat a little more often or a slightly bigger rat.
She is pretty.

The light is coming slightly from the side and if you were looking in the place I think you were looking her color is also a little lighter there along the spine. I've tried getting her to eat more often but she dosent want to and the medium rats are (way)too big for her right now.

I actually got her from my mom's old boss who recently got into the ball python breeding business. Check out The Reptoshpere Facebook page, that's where she posts all the balls, the Reptoshpere website is for ordering feeders etc. if you really want one more like her(or one of her babies) i'll be probably breeding her in a year or two. Btw, she looks waayyy better in real life.

this picture was taken the day before I fed her and she had eaten two weeks before. She dosent like eating every week, I dunno why. Her setup is fine, temps, humidity: fine. Plenty of hiding places, etc. she just dosent like eating every week.

*Reptosphere
curse you spelling errors! I misspelled Reptosphere once! Once! And autocorrect does this every time now! Damn you autocorrect!
