    First Bite!?!
Well I have finally joined the bite club, and despite that fact that 98% of my snakes are ball pythons, of course it was the baby king that got me first. He decided my thumb was a good snack and would NOT let me go. Some how I managed to survive, here is a picture of the vicious attack. Luckily my mom was visiting and reminded me of the most important thing to do in this terrifying position, pictures!

Your thumb is bigger than him! I wonder how he thought that was going to work out.

Little brat did not want to let go at all, then he started working his jaw toward my thumb nail... Every time I feed him he is a complete spaz!

Kings are notorious finger nibblers IMO. I used to put mine under cold running water when he wouldn't let go and went to start swallowing my fingers. As he got older I've started with cold water then start turning the hot on. It doesn't get too warm before he lets go. Getting him back in the enclosure before he tries latching on again is the hard part afterward.

Welcome to the club. He is cute. :gj:

Oh boy, what a ferocious attack! I've only handled an adult chocolate king, and he was a puppydog. That little dude is out for blood! :P

I had a juvenile MBK do exactly that except she got the side of my pinky, and then she started working around to the nail. Cold water didn't work, but a cotton ball soaked in white vinegar waved in front of her nose did the trick.

Love the pic of him all wrapped up on your thumb!

I don't know a lot about kings, but I browse this part of the forum because they are beautiful. What species is he?

    First Bite!?!
He is a Mexican black kingsnake. His future girl friend is super dark but he should darken as he ages to a jet black. I had to do the cold water trick to get him to let go and even that took a good minute and a half, luckily although I could feel his little teeth they where to small to break the skin. Lol I rushed him back to his cage as soon as he let go, pried his coil off my thumb, because even this he was concentrating on his breathing for a second he was not going to let me go! And immediately went and warmed up his dinner.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, their teeth don't hurt much. One time I had one of my BPs wrap up on me, and even with the bigger snake it wasn't the teeth that hurt. I was starting to get slightly concerned when my fingers were turning blue before I got the snake to let go though....
