Has anyone here noticed a difference in the consistency of feces when you feed f/t compared to that of feeding fresh killed prey? My bp had a bowel movement, the first one she's had since I got her on thawed rats- it didnt look like the normal feces I used to see when I fed p/k. It didn't look like anything that would lead my to believe she has parasites, because she didn't have them before and she definitely wouldn't have picked them up from a feeding recently because they've all been f/t. Just wondering if anyone's noticed a difference.

My ball pythons poo looks smells and tastes exactly the same as when I feed them prekilled. (They're being feed frozen/thawed now)

LOL, of course! I like to stab them with a toothpick and pop them in the freezer for fun snacks that help chase away the summer heat!

Haha I smell sarcasm....but yeah, I actually looked at the stool some more, and I think it looked wierd because it looked like there was a lot of fur throughout it. So whatever that means.

Has anyone noticed how people who keep herps aren't squimish about gross things at all? Some of my friends are totally grossed out that I'd even touch a thawed out rat, less keep them in the freezer next to my hot pockets, lol...

maybe its like a hairball but, you know, coming out the other end. it adds texture to your little poo kabob on a toothpick. :P ha, no really i have no experience on the subject.

Norbert had poop like that once (furry). That was actually the sample I took to the vet when I first got him, and she didn't mention anything about it, so I'm sure it's fine.

Brandon.O .. jsut hit the quote button above the post you want to quote. I've had a couple of furry poops with f/t and pre-killed. I've never thought it was a problem and the vet has never said anything about it in some of the samples i've sent him.

Allright...I will tell you what grossed me out once. I was thawing and warming an F/T rat and the abdominal wall of the rodent broke open when I lifted in up to offer to one of my snakes and warm, runny guts spilled all over the front of my shirt and pants. It was truly nasty.

Roo gets furry poos all the time, and she eats p/k feeders.

That has been known to happen, sometimes when you warm them up too much they explode, pretty nasty indeed!

Sounds like it  . How were you thawing the rodent? This happens often when you heat the little bugger up too much.
