    Red tail boa color change
My Motley BCI male changes color a lot usually from day to night. But for the past two weeks he was really dark and today when I went to take him out I noticed he shed. He looks like a different snake! He ate every week for me so far and I handle him daily except two days after he eats and I never noticed his eyes got blue.

Yup, boas do change colors! My cherry pastels are fired up every morning and evening, but pretty drab during the day. This is a super nice motley! Congrats on him!! :gj:

Thanks everyone! He is like a puppy and actually enjoys handling and does not want to ever be put back. Boas are really becoming a favorite of mine.

Beautiful! I love motleys. And I love how drastic boas change in a day. My boa can be almost silver with greys and pinks (like in my avatar) or a really rich gold color. There are so many reasons boas are my favorite, and the beautiful color changes are one of them.

Your boa has the cutest face, btw.

Sorry to bring a old thread back but I have a quick question about my motleys color change being temperature related. If hes on his cool side which is 75-77 degrees he is always very dark in color and his belly turns white to brown and the white scales on his lips and head turn black. And if hes on his warm side (90-92 degrees) he is very light and a light silver-ish color with no dark speckling and dark appearance. Is he turning dark because he is cold and trying to absorb light? Im not sure of this he is not shedding since he just did about two weeks ago when I started this thread.
