    Lucius the fire ball python.
Picked this guy up from Constrictors Unlimited last month. Found him scoping out the place this afternoon. Figured I'd share. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/12/29/4ehu6y2a.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/12/29/yga6ehud.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/12/29/adajenyr.jpg

I love the "goofy puppy still growing into his head" phase. Even melts non snake people.

He is a character that's for sure. I still need to pick up a scale to track his weight. I'm feeding him large ft mice at the moment. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/02/pegu4ydy.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/02/2y9unery.jpg

So we weighed him tonight and he came to 161 grams. He is aprox 22" long and hatch date was mid July 13. Is this about right? I know every snake is different. Just want to make sure out little guy is growing properly. He eats one large ft mouse every Thursday.

He looks healthy which is the most important thing.he does seem a little small but again, go more by what he looks like. You could try feeding him rat fuzzies instead of mice. My bp exploded in growth when I moved to rats.

Scratch that! I finally fed live! He took it in 2 seconds. This Maoist was way bigger than the ft I have been getting listed as large mice. No defrosting and no zombie dance. Fed him in a tub so mouse pee didn't go every where. Seems to be a happy guy. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/17/e9anu9yb.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/17/qyrazesy.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/17/5abuze9a.jpg

So here is a question. I have a large corner bowl from petco and it is filled half way with water. I have never seen him use it! Aren't they supposed to soak once in a while ? He just had a perfect shed. One solid piece! I'll post a picture later. I was just curious.

Changed the thread title at the member's request due to an auto-correct error. :P Although personally, I thought "Luscious" was a cute name, too. ;)

Actually I do not follow her. I just liked the name. I herd it somewhere. Then my wife pointed out it was misspelled. Gotta love predictive text.

Thanks I think he looks pretty cool too.

They soak if there's not enough humidity or if they have mites. From what I've observed from my own snakes is they'll usually drink after they eat.

Some updated pics of the enclosure. I just fed him so of course he decided to retreat to his hot spot. I finally got rid of the dimmer and got a thermostat also. For the blacking out the tank I sprayed the back and sides with plastidip. I think it came out awesome. I also did our beardies tank the same way. What do you think?

Looks good! i was going to do that with my tank some time ago, until i got a rack and just HAD to fill it up =).... As for soaking, as they've said its only if there is a lack. Sometimes they'll sit in it just because. But other times is its too hot aswell. If hes not soaking and has a perfect shed. Simple you got perfect husbandry
