Help me spend my christmas money!
    Hey guys,

Not sure if this is the best place to post this but I want help/advise choosing a rack to buy. I only have $500 to spend so I can't go super high end I'm debating between these 3; http://cserpents.com/C_Serpents_Hot_Box/V-70.html (The 3 tub), http://www.reptilebasics.com/iris-cb-70-rack, http://www.boaphileplastics.com/rhin...ball_room.html (the 4 tub). I have never owned a rack system before and I just got into snakes this year. I have 3 Balls and none if them are full grown. They're currently all in 20L tanks and are doing fine, but I want more and don't have space for tons of tanks. Any advice/reviews on these racks would be great! I also need suggestions on thermostats... That's all I need to have the rack be functional, right?

Oh, and if you have a suggestion on a rack you like better that's in the $300-$500 range let me know!

    Thanks Y'all! :snake:

    PS
If I had leftover cash to put toward snakes, that would be brilliant! :P

Racks usually come prewired with heat tape, so all you usually need are the thermostat. If you haven't already, check out animalplastics.com. They make great racks.

You can always consider building your own rack. I found a local place where I can get expanded foam PVC (that's what a lot of the racks are made out of) for not much more than melamine. Once I figured it up, I can make a 5 tub cb 70 rack for less than I could buy most of the other racks.

I have C serpent racks as well and I love them. I also talk to Chris all the time and he's a great guy. I recently saw his new incubators that he took over as well and they're very nicely designed. I would like to get one when I have the money, rather then make my own. His incubators have a false back wall so when the heat rises the fan blows the air into the false wall and the air goes down to the bottom and out the opening on the bottom to recirculate.

Seconded for Animal Plastics. They have some very nice economy racks with a good amount of space for collection expansion.

If you're going to go the animal plastics route, just know it'll most likely take months. If you need something sooner, I'd go a different route. I'm thinking of getting my first rack system in the next few months. I've been looking at C serpents racks and really like their v-70 racks. Their three tub v-70, which will work for BPs when they are full grown, is 300 shipped.

Is this due to lead/construction time or they just bad at shipping? I thought about buying two racks around February but maybe I should put my order in now?

I have a question about C-Serpents and their shipping. This is what Ive been looking at:
    10 Tub Open Side V-70
$650 ** Local or Show pickup only

You see it only says "Local or Show pickup only", does anyone actually know if they will ship these?

They seem to stock only what they call "quick ship items" so all others are made to order. If time is a concern I'd call them prior to ordering and see if you can get an estimated ship date. I've ordered from them several times and everything has gone well each time.

Something to keep in mind: My Reptile Basic ones were all ordered at different times. Each time it shipped within a couple of days of ordering. I was extremely happy with the service and shipping time.

I think my friend picked up his C-Serpents ones at a show. Like others on this thread, he has nothing but great things to say about Chris at C-Serpents.

I've heard Animal Plastics can take months to ship. If getting this rack soon is important, you'll need to keep in mind the lead time.

I really like my CSerpents racks, and I also really like my racks from Dragons4You.net.

If I had the $ I would have all Dragons4You racks, but as I needed a lot more space, I went with the CSerpents open 10 stack V70s. Both companies have had fantastic customer service and their lead time seems to be better than some other companies. I think both have racks in your price range.

As far as thermostats go, we have Herpstats and love them.

Times not an issue for me at all... Sounds like maybe I should go the AP route, I dismissed them because of their poor website, haha. As far as quality do you guys think that the $300-$500 ones are all about the same?

Also, should I buy my thermostat from the same place I buy my rack? I'm completely unfamiliar with all the rack thermostats. I just have hydrofarm thermostats on all my tanks.

I ordered my Herpstat 2 directly from Spyderrobotics as they were having a holiday sale. I don't know if the sale is still going on.

They can not ship that one because they come built already. You don't have to do anything but open your package. I use cserpents and will never used anything different. My package always comes 9-10 days from place order

Yep just open the package and attach the thermostat, you're ready to go! I will definitely be getting all my racks from C Serpents.

haha...don't let their website fool you. AP racks are top quality, very well made, assemble easily and are rock solid.

If you're going to go for a rack buy from CSerpents. His incubators look beautiful but I haven't owned one. Almost all of my racks are his though and they are all exquisite. I won't buy from anybody else now.
