    Hey everybody,
I was wondering if anybody here has ever kept and maintained Scolopendra centipedes??? these are the closest thing to a hot snake in the invertebrate world - I once kept a collection of ten Vietnamese centipedes....they were crazy and dangerous. They probably will not kill you if you are bit but they are extremely venomous and the bite causes extreme pain and tissue damage. I was into them for about three years until I started to lose my nerve and I sold my collection and got into snakes. These Scolopendra centipedes ARE amazing and frightening animals...they are about a foot long and have huge prehensor fangs that articulate from side to side...they are something else. I cannot really say that I recommend them as they are very dangerous animals..but I DO have some scary stories about them...

I think as I am getting older I am getting more wussed out...I dont have the nerve for animals like this anymore...I just love my silly old Ball Pythons and that is good enough for me...hehehehe

I've seen some before .. they just creaped me out way too much to even consider owning one. I'd have nightmares about waking up to find them crawling up my leg or something

I've seen them, but my invertebrate experience consists of exactly one wild-caught eight-inch whip scorpion who was released into the wild a few months after capture. I'm definitely not prepared to tackle these guys ... yet. I'll buy a mamba in fifteen years or so, and if I survive a few years with that, then I'll think about centipedes. :)

Same here they think they are unbreakable and the wife would likely beat me with a shovel if I brought anything looking like that home - but I DO think I am likely going to get another Tarantula, one bigger than a rosehair fo sho - but I am still looking into the amazing variety of options out there.

Too creepy for me! I'm not a fan of the insect type creatures, but they are interesting to watch and learn about...on TV (that's the only way they are getting in my house if I have anything to say about it). I do have a great respect for them, especially spiders, just have that aversion thing goin' on and there's no turning it off.
