A VERY long wait!

More than ten years ago, I started researching pet snakes for my daughter and ran across a picture of a pied ball python in a book. Instant love!

Of course, ten years ago, the cost of one was astronomical, and having one as a pet for a ten year old girl was out of the question. My daughter is a 20 year old college student now, and my love for pied balls has not diminished by a single black freckled scale. But life circumstances, and the continued relatively high price of the morph has kept them out of my reach all this time.

Until now.

She arrived today, from my dear friend Raul Campos of West Coast Jungle, and I am thrilled beyond measure!

I only took a couple of snap shots before letting her alone in her new home, but here she is. I think I'll call her Kaylee, and bonus points to anyone who knows where that comes from. :P

Here she is still curled up in the deli cup she arrived in, looking a little like, "What the heck is happening??"

The name Kaylee makes me think of the show/movie Firefly/Serenity so my guess is that is where you got her name.

I am thinking Firefly as the source of the name as well. I named my GTP Jayne.

Pieds have always been my dream snake as well and while I don't currently have any. However, I have the next best thing a pastel 100% het pied male from J. Kobylka reptiles and a 100% het pied female from Bob Clark. The female isn't going to be big enough for this season but when she is, I hope the genetic gods are on my side lol. Yours is beautiful by the way.

Your pied girl looks great. I plan to get one myself in march at the repticon show. Nothing looks like a pied. Even people who are afraid of snakes seem to like pied's. They are just so nice to look at.

Such a great story though. I think we all have those fantasies about having something so seemingly out of reach. Glad it finally happened for you! The 10+ years of anticipation probably made it all the better.
