Whats the longest your BP has gone off feed?
My big male BP has been off feed for 3 months. He ate about a month ago but just once and has refused since. Whats the longest you have personally seen a BP stay off feed for?

I had a male black psstel go off feed for almost 9 months. I've heard of some going close to 13 months.

Ive always heard that everybody who owns a BP long enough will at some point deal with a snake going off feed but when it actually happens its a weird feeling. I think it feels weird because he was a monster when it came to feeding he never turned down meals and the prey wouldnt last longer than 20 seconds in with this guy (i feed live)

One has gone 2 months maybe 3 at most and another had gone off for just one. But still any period of time they stop eating is annoying lol.

Petey seems to follow the pattern of Wafer and Oreo(2 colubrids) and stops eating around October. Then starts eating around late February/March again.

Too lazy to look up another thread similar to this but I remember seeing someone who said they had a BP go off feed for 18 months which I believe is/was the longest length of time in the thread.

My little guy refused a couple times, but that was with rat pups and he don't really care for them and it's extremely frustrating. But mice it's a win always...Snakes aren't suppose to stress you out.

I've got an adult female that I adopted (I believe she was an import that was given up to the local herp society when the original owner couldn't do anything with her). I had her for about 9 months before she finally fed for the first time for me. However I do have others that were CBB that go on several months long hunger strikes throughout the year, ball pythons are actually kind of famous for it. As long as they have good muscle tone and don't appear to be losing drastic amounts of weight (get a digital gram scale to keep track) they'll be fine.

Hunger strikes will end eventually with nothing the worse for wear except for the keepers nerves. ;)

Yea Ive never had a BP this size and up until now I associated eating to being healthy. Now i know first hand about the hunger strike. Im going to try again tomorrow and see what happens.

I have one who went off feed for 7 weeks, right after I got him. I had bought him as a rat eater, but he refused any offered, but as soon
as I gave him a mouse, BAMM in 1 second flat. Poor thing was starving by that point so I gave him 4 or 5, don't remember.
I've been giving him mice ever since. Being a male, I don't really care that he's a mouse eater, I have a steady supply.

My ch female is a pain in my butt, but I love her! :). First 2 months wouldn't eat at all... f/t rat pup or mouse, live rat pup... finally live mouse hopper did the trick... ate faithfully for 4 months every 5 days... and got up to eating 2 mice... 3 weeks ago went on strike and finally this week ate again... she's a goof :)

I'd like both my males eating rats, especially cause of the difference in nutritional value...my ghost no problems, mice or rats!he don't care. black pastel on the other hand does everything to not strike but usually always does, most the time, when it does to rats .. But yeah mice are a win every time,so I'll stick with mice for now and he won't take FT either. I'm just hoping once he gets a bit bigger,he will take rats no problem. But until then I'll be giving mice more often but still adding in the occasional rat. But I have to go with mice for now mainly.

Well my big guy is going on 2 months now. I'm just glad I feed live or would have thrown away plenty of f/t by now.

A couple of my males are like a clock, never late and for a set amount of months.

    What difference is that?
The only difference is if you have to feed multiples or not and even on my larger girls they can get several smalls or a couple meds in one feeding.

My Normal male was off feed last year from mid-December to early March. He started back slow, taking prey that were left with him in the tank. Beginning in early April he started slamming again, and never missed a meal till late last month (October 2015). He took a small rat November 5, but has refused everything since. I'm saving my rat feeders till Spring and am offering him small mice every two weeks - which I'll feed to my King if he refuses.
