False Water Cobra
Hi I am a new member on this forum, and although I know it may come off as rude for my first post to be asking a favor, it would be greatly appreciated if you guys could help me out. Ive been looking around for a FWC and ive found some on backwaterreptiles.com. Breeding pair for 600. Unofortunately, i have no experience with this site and also am only interested in one snake. Can you guys give me some feedback if youve worked with these guys in the past, or point me in the right direction for just one? Im based in Georgia and would MUCH MUCH rather pick him/her up instead of shipping.
Thanks in advance!!

I don't often hear very good reviews of Backwater. Here's just one thread detailing some customer experiences, there are more links to follow within the thread.

Always check the FaunaClassifieds Board of Inquiry when contemplating a purchase.

Welcome to the site!
I don't think I've ever read a good thing about them. They aren't a breeder, they are a middle man drop shipper that might not even see the animal before it is shipped to you. I would stay away.

Check the "Board Of Inquiry" while looking for a reptile vendor...and good luck!

Re: False Water Cobra
Backwater isn't know to be good. Check out their reviews and feedback on Fauna Board of Inquiry(BOI).
For false water cobras, contact Wes(Wilomn on this site). He is the go to guy in the country for FWC.

Re: False Water Cobra
Thanks for the welcome! Ive frequented a few guitar forums that werent exactly kind to new members. Glad to know its a better atmosphere around here.
and i also appreciate the warning of BWR. As i said im never fond of shipping, never gone down that route and hopefully never will. Id rather drive for a half a day and be sure the animals safe than leave it to chance. Im sure though when done right that it has little problems however.
I will definitely contact wes tomorrow about them, im trying to diversify my collection at the moment.

The only 2 places I would ever go for a FWC is to Wes (wilomn) or to GBU Enterprises (look them up online). Both Wes and GBU have the best animals out there and are very good to work with.
Good luck in your search!! FWCs are high up on my own wish list. :gj:

With a bit of luck I should have babies available in March or April. The larger of the two is the girl and 2 days prior to the breeding ate a huge retired breeder male rat. She's beefy. Last year before she slugged out she weighed 14 pounds.

Awesome! What prices were you thinking about for the babies?

Did you know Sam and Naomi have sold the shop? Misfit Reptiles owns it now. But I guess they will still do business from home on the side.

Yes, they still breed privately. I'm sure Naomi would not stop breeding FWCs. She has a great pride of them.

He can't answer that as we do not allow sales discussions on the open forums - please take the conversations of that nature to the PM system or the for sale forum.

Ya, I believe they only left like 4 falsies at the shop but took the rest.

Re: False Water Cobra
My issue with backwater is that they don't always seem clear on who is wild caught or not and I only believe in wild caught for introducing more genetic variation. Some of the animals they sell don't seem ethical to take from the wild and I can't imagine they do background checks before selling gators based on how many rescues came in to the hero rescue I vunteered for where people bought crocs online. That is just me personally though. Prehistoric pets in southern cal has a false water cobra in their zoo. Maybe you could ask where they got theirs?

I hadn't realized that Sam and Naomi had sold the shop. But they really hadn't sold the FWCs through their business anyhow. You generally had to contact Naomi on the side for information regarding the falsies. I am glad they are still breeding privately! I am also sure they would still be working with the falsies since they had such passion for them. :gj:
