Proper weight for 5 month BP
So, I just got a weight scale today and I was wondering. How much should a 5 month BP weight? He currently weights 143g.

They vary. Some grow quicker than others.

143g is definitely on the smaller side, though. What are you feeding him and how often?

I've been feeding him fuzzy rats. I feed him once a week. Once the 2 fuzzies are done I'll get him on pups.

Depending on the size, you can probably do two fuzzies at a time (at least). If you want, you can also move him to every 5 days instead of 7 for a while. If you do increase his feedings to 5 days you'll want to slow it back down at some point. I use 500g as my break point, but other people use other numbers. The important thing is to bring it back to 7 when he starts getting bigger.

The fuzzies seem proper sized to me. I'll take a pic of him just to show you if he looks underweight or not. To me he doesn't I think he is just a runt but I'm not sure.

I agree with 200xth, it can vary GREATLY depending on many factors but yours does seem on the small side. Here's some stats from some of mine. I don't have exact hatch dates on most of them but the ages are pretty close to 5 months at these weights.

    396g
    372g
    408g
    446g
    375g
    488g

You may be right. Descriptions vary from place to place. One place's small may be another place's weaned rat. This is why I generally prefer numbers. You can call something a small rat, I can call it a weaned rat, but 45g is 45g everywhere and we both know how big it is.

You can weigh the food. Basic guideline for younger snakes is 10% to 15% of the snake's body weight.

He is about 1.9 feet. By the way, what is a good way to measure a snake? I put him on my little sisters arm and took him off and measured her arm from where he was xD

This pic had flash one thats why it looks weird

Doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong at all. Weights vary so much in snakes.
He started on pups, then weanlings, and on smalls now. He gets fed every 5-7 days. My smalls are around 60g or so

    You sound fine.
All snakes don't grow at the same rate. If your snake had a good body condition, don't worry about it.

I had two females that were born within days of each other. One gained ~100 g a month and outgrew the other. They were fed at the same time and on the same size prey. The larger female was 1000g before her first birthday and the smaller female was at around 500. Both had a healthy body condition. I also had a male that was 500g at 2 years old.
They just grow at different rates.

I measure my snakes sheds :) if it's one big long piece it's so much easier to measure the skin, they wiggle around so much it's so hard to get an accurate measurement.

Pulled his most recent feeding stats. Blanks are spots where he either shed or I weighed him. Goes to show growth rates are extremely variable because you've been feeding yours on a similar schedule with a larger prey item. They all don't grow the same

Sheds are probably the most inaccurate way of measuring length haha

He isn't terribly skinny, bit I'd definitely up his feeding a bit.

From what I can see he looks okay. Doesn't look to be obviously starving or anything. On the small side and could definitely use some size.

I think rat fuzzies are too small for him, but without weights of the snake and the food I can't tell.

I have a new male hatchling, he hatched the 3rd August and he was 163g before his first feed with me (weighed by breeder on Friday) he's a consistent feeder on rats every 7 days (how the breeder fed him)

Ok. Thanks. I'll go to the petshop and ask them what size their pups are.

No. You don't need to do that. I thought you said you had a scale and some rat fuzzies already. I was talking about those.

The rat pups should be fine.

Oops, I'm sorry. Lol. Well you can use http://serpwidgets.com/main/measure if you upload an overhead pic of your snake they will tell you how long it is. I haven't used it before but it may work lol. I can't think of any other ways to get a really good measurement.

My guy is about 5 1/2-6 months old and weighs 352 grams,100% empty stomach. I weighed him yesterday. He is eating weanling rats easily and can even handle a small rat,he's a beast. Fed him a small rat 2 weeks ago,it was to big and I bought it in a rush. He was insecure and didntwanna strike for like 20 mins, and kept sizing the rat up,but when he did, done deal... He's a beast.

my little guy was eating rat pups on e he hit about 60grams ( I think I got him from a non feeder, cause he was super small he was super small when I first got him),before that was hoppers. Rat pups come in a few sizes, some are a little bigger than others it mot that much different,so pick out accordingly
