Spider Wobble

Hey guys, was watching my little guy this morning in his tub and looks like he has the typical spider wobble. What peeked my interest here, as I have read up on the wobble, is that he shows no sign in handling or feeding whatsoever and seems only to slightly corkscrew when he is reaching up to the top of the tub. He has no issue in righting himself he just seems to like to do this in changing direction.

Any of you other spider owners experience this and would you say this is a usual show of a wobble? And just for fun, a pic of my little guy. He's such a lovely BP; wobble or no wobble.

My spider does the same. Its only bery slight in her when shes on her cage but once i handle her shes fine. Shes the best feeder i have and has only missed one meal in a year. I know my friends bumblebee has really bad wobble and skips meals all the time. Luckily the wobble isnt harmful to the snake. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/12/04/by4ebydy.jpg

Ah thank you! I wasn't sure if I was experiencing a normal wobble or something else. That is an amazing photograph :)

Yeah sounds like yours has a very slight wobble. It just gives personality. And thanks! I love all the pictures of the snakes you have.

I need to get some more pictures of them, especially my new lesser and mojave, their settling period is killing me as I just want to get them out to play and photograph! I'm trying to behave though and not handling until at least one feed :(

My Spider has the same wobble. Not noticable at all during handling or feeding. In fact he's one of my best eater's. He has never missed a feed and is slaming F/T Rat's like crazy!

One time When I first got him I thought he was dead because from his head to about 4 inches down was all flipped upside down. I didn't understand what was going on until one day I watched him. What he would do was try to stretch out to reach the top of the tub and get the wobble and flip over backwards. Then he would stay like that a good couple of minutes (like he felt embarrased or something haha) then would turn back over and keep trying. He's is a character and probably one of my favorites. My wife just adores him over all my snakes.

I still haven't been able to determine whether or not mine little lady has a wobble. There are times when I think she does, but it's very slight if it is a wobble. I've read about some people being totally turned-off by the wobble (especially extreme cases), but I just think of it as good dance moves! :gj:

Yeah his is only when he is reaching upwards in the tub. I remember when I got my bee home he was lying with his head upside down in the tub and I had to prod him (gently) to make sure he was still alive!

My spider rights himself so quickly it is barely noticeable but I was curious. He's such a character!

My bee has never shown signs of the wobble past day one, head upside down moment!

One of my spiders only has a wobble when looking up. Eats fine, handles fine. But man when she looks up it gets really bad lol. Perfectly normal

My spider boy has no visible wobble in every day interaction while I have him out but, when he is ready to feed and knows there's rats he seems to get really excited and that's when his wobble comes out. But it has never put him off in his aim or feeding response and I don't recall him ever skipping a meal in four years.

Does Wobble manifest as a snake gets older? Or is it apparent from day one? My spider is a year old and shows no sign of a wobble at all.

It can stay dormant forever, can be so small you don't realise it, show from day one or turn up at any point in their lives etc. I've had my spider since the 14th of last month and his has shown in the last week. He is very young but it seemed to come out of no where. It doesn't affect him at all (wobble doesn't affect most spiders) but those who don't know much about the wobble think it is cruel and that spiders and spider morphs should be eradicated.

I disagree. My spider is a lovely, tame, well-eating boy and I wouldn't change him, wobble or not :)

My bumblebee has the same slight wobble. She reaches up to the top and slightly corkscrews up there. Also when she's eating she'll shake her head a little but I've never seen her miss a strike, I think it adds character haha

Sod's law - my bee and spider struck and ate tonight along with my new mojave. My lesser, het gs and albino all struck, missed and gave up. Just goes to show you!

beautiful snakes you all have i just hatched out 4 bees earlier this year, 1 was a train wreck when it went to its new home now doing fine not as bad as it was when it first hatched out, 2 had slight wobbles and one non visible wobble, the wobble will carry down there is no such thing a a spider without a wobble! low wobblers can produce high wobbler offspring and visa verse i have heard some grow out of it and some become more heavy with the wobble. either way they will be fine! spider gene does some awesome stuff and im in agreement naom9Anne that they should not be eradicated they are awesome morph and do some crazy things but just got to be careful of the deadly combos! other then that enjoy your spider :):gj::snake:

Totally normal. People say they have spiders that don't wobble, they just don't pay close enough attention. They all have varying degrees of wobble, or different ways of expressing their wobble. Some only show it when prey is around, some when they are moving, some when they are laying around, some all the time. It's not going to harm them, they just look weird. The one nice thing is that they seem to eat just about anything.

This is what my bee does when he's waiting to be fed. He sort of corkscrews and then doesn't move, just lays there like he's dead. I have a spider female who only sucks at striking, not weird otherwise; a spinner female who extra sucks at striking and tilts her head a lot; and the bee corkscrews, tilts is head, plays dead, but he has perfect aim when he strikes. Like I said, they have their own way of displaying wobble. None of mine really wobble, my first spider did, but only when he ate. His head would wobble/shake ever so slightly right before he struck.

That is how my bee was when I got him home after buying from a private seller! I thought he was dead! Haha. The bee doesn't show a wobble but the spider has started, as I said both ate perfectly tonight so the wobble doesn't affect at all :)

Your bee is gorgeous! I really love the spider morph and its combinations :D

The spider morph is actually one of my favorites. I don't know what it is but it's like they have this certain personality that can just brighten your day, like a clown sort of. ;)

I know sometimes when I get home from work in the evenings. I will make my rounds through the rack checking temps and I'll come to the spider tubs and I'll see my spider which I call (Chewy) layed out in the tub, head upside down just chilling. And I think to myself "what the heck, goofy snake", and Immediately chuckle. I can honestly say I would miss that If I didn't have any spider style morphs to keep me entertained!! :D
