Sphinxes are cool. :D The vet I used to take the snakes to to be weighed had a sphinx that would come in regularly.

Re: Sphinx update
As far as I know, there's two other ladies in my area with these.
It's crazy when I take them anywhere because we get swarmed from people wanting to pet them and ask questions.
-
I love sphynx structurally, but can't wrap my brain around the absence of hair. When I saw some at a cat show last year, seeing them in person didn't help. :p I'm hoping to get a couple burmese or oriental short hair kittens in the near future, so it's cool to see someone else that's into purebred cats on the forum.
Your two have cool marking patterns, btw!

I'm actually allergic to cat hair, so when my furry cat had to be put down (kidneys failing), I decided to get these girls!
Did you pet one? They do have a bit of hair. I'm told they feel like a horses muzzle. The kitten has quite a bit of fur on her tail.
-
Bobbafett- No, I didn't get to pet any of them. All the ones we saw were in the rings being shown... Didn't see any that were "benched" to talk to the breeders / owners. I got to hold an oriental and pet a tonkinese, so I considered myself lucky.. Most of the folks didn't want you petting their cats, which I can understand. I'd say that a good 40% of the cats at the show were persians, so I guess what they say about them being the most popular show cat is true.

Doolittle and I are crazy purebred cat ladies!!!!

I love the sphinx breed. I think they are adorable and I love thier unbounding energy. Are yours ok being bathed? It is the weekly bathing that keeps me from putting the hard sell on the breed with my husband who has the more traditional view that only fluffy = cute.

One of hers is good, the other is a little demon when it comes to bathes.

Re: Sphinx update
Lol. Doolittle is right. Mercedes (Grey) hates baths. And it's at the point where I just wipe her down with baby wipes because I've been bitten and scratched enough. I didn't get her as a kitten though.
My kitten is fine in the tub though.
-
Are the baby wipes adequate? That would be a great solution! My fear is that knowing how strong and rambunctious Sphinx cats are that they would be much more adversarial in the bath than a typical domestic beast. I've always had long haired breeds who need bathing periodically so I can handle a typical amount of bathtime fight occasionally. But even with them I wouldn't want to go through it on a weekly basis.

Re: Sphinx update
No haha. She doesn't enjoy the wipes either. If you get a kitten, they'll get used to it.

Re: Sphinx update
I LOVE the little paw photo! I hope to get a sphinx one day, they seem like such great pets. My neighbor has a sphinx, and sometimes in the summer, if both of our windows are opened, I can hear the sphinx meowing, and my cat will meow back :)

Your cats are absolutely stunning! I have a huge soft spot for hairless animals.
If I were to ever get another cat after mine pass on, it would only be a sphynx. Not just because they're lovely, but I'm sick to death of everything being plastered with fur. It's on the furniture, in the air, and all over any clothes no matter how recently they've been washed. The extra care a sphynx would require more than makes up for not having to use a lint roller over an entire shirt every time I wear black. :)

So gorgeous! I love that they are hairless. You can see the colors so well, and they get to be dressed up all the time!
