    Why do you come here?
So, whats the reason you originally came to this forum and more importantly, why do you keep coming back?
I originally was looking for incubation information, and answers to a few questions. I got all that i needed, plus i gained friendship, knowledge and advice. Not to mention tons of scaled eye candy, and membership in the most caring, sharing, helpful, supportive and REAL community of people who share the passion for our beloved little worms. What about you?

    Why do you come here?
I came here originally when I first bought my first bp back in 09. I wanted to know proper care and learn as much as could. I stick around because of all the great people. I pop in on occasion just to see how my friends are doing. I may go missing for a couple months at a time but I always come back just because this is such a great place.

In September, I bought a ball python without knowing anything about caring for him. I ended up here because whatever I was googling about care and feeding always pointed here and this site always had the best information. I stay because it is a fine community of people.

Came here because I wanted to optimize my first BP's living arrangements and get things right. Stayed because there's a ton of people on here that I've bonded with and I love hearing what they have to say and bouncing new ideas back and forth. It's a tight-knit community.

Shortly after getting our first ball, I was googling something bp related and the site came up. Checked it out, and have stuck around ever since. Lots of great information, nice, helpful people, pretty snakes to see. Always something new to learn. I have made lots friends on here. For the most part everybody is great. Unfortunately there are always going to be turds in the cat box though. But obviously I love it here, I've been around for 2 years. :)

I am extremely new to herpetological endeavors. I have always been an information hound. There is way too much conflicting information being spouted by supposed experts, so I am looking for personal experience that can be debated by others with personal experience.

I found this site while looking for local breeders.
I enjoy the company of most of the people here, there are a couple that need to learn a couple things. ;)
Overall I have met and continue to meet a lot of cool people that I have something in common with.
Some of you help reignite my passion for breeding when I start getting down on myself and for that I would like to thank you all.

They won't commute my sentence, so I'm not going anywhere for the foreseeable future.

And there's a 10% chance on any given day that there's a turd in need of flushing and I REALLY like to see that swirl.

Makes sense. I can't see any reason at all to try to enjoy something you have to do, like work or research.

Do you consider this forum business or pleasure?

No other reason???? Than to possibly try and help others with any problems??? I call BS and i cannot believe YOU just said that!!! Someone correct me if im wrong, but i do believe youve helped NO ONE. From my observations, youve only degraded, criticized, and antagonized people. Many here consider this place their online "family", and come here for support and assistance. YOU sir, do not provide anything close to that. I dont believe theyve considered ANY of your pompous, snide, arrogant, and overtly disrespectful comments and remarks to be helpful. Matter of fact they do the opposite...they HURT. People like you seek to hurt others. If i was a newbie, and you responded to my questions and comments with how you generally respond to everything, id never come back this forum. And IMO, its not good PR to have such negative people like you around here. There are soo many people here who work so hard to make this forum what it is - friendly, and awesome. Sure, there are folks that have ruffled feathers a time or two,but YOU sir are in a class all by yourself. You constantly upset people and RUIN thread after thread. IMO, you dont belong here. There are plenty of forums that welcome people like you with open arms. Well, this isnt one of them. I suggest you take your "help" over there.

I ended up here because I did a search on google that brought up a thread here. I joined and stayed because it's great to be around people that love and enjoy snakes as much as I do. I don't know many people like that in real life. Also this place is a lot of fun and I enjoy reading the threads and looking at all the pictures :)

In 2-3 years after I get the cash, patents, and place built. In the meantime you can swab decks on the ship.

If you do well, you'll get promoted to the ranks of ship's physician. ;)

came here because snakes duh! I'm glad I was able to find a great website. I basically knew nothing when I got my first bp, but because I always found this site to be reliable, I'll always come back. I lurked for a while, before becoming a member but I'm glad I finally joined!

I look up to you who have a lot of experience and passion for caring for these animals. it's awesome! I've only been a member for like a month or something but it has made me a lot better of an owner. :)

Re: Why do you come here?
I stumbled on bp.net when I was doing research before getting a snake as a family pet. I had been asking my son's allergist for years about different kinds of animals, and he'd finally ok'd having a snake in the house. Even though I'd worked around reptiles in the past, I'd never actually owned one myself. This turned out to be the best place I found for solid husbandry advice.

After we got Millie, I joined the forums and always found really wonderful people willing to answer my "new mom" questions. (I still do. Would have flipped my twinkies over Millie's hunger strike if it weren't for you guys.)

I keep coming back because none of my friends or extended family appreciate how adorable my little rat lips is. It's wonderful hanging out around people who really love reptiles. I should also probably mention that my husband spends even more time on the forums than I do. He just lurks, though, and doesn't post himself!

    Why do you come here?
I came to this site at the beginning of November, after getting a ball python from Petco that had been in an "accident". One of the sticky thermometers had gotten stuck to the side of his neck, near his head. They had been treating it with silvadene, hoping he would shed. The guy there told me they had been waiting "2 months" for him to shed, and decided to sell him for $20. He had a clump of skin where he had been injured. I had a bearded dragon years ago, but knew next to nothing about ball pythons. I just knew I had to get him out of there.

Thanks to all of you, I now have a Herpstat instead of the plastic piece of junk thermostat I originally purchased. He shed 9 days after leaving Petco. He has eaten regularly up until yesterday - his first refused meal. He is very small in my opinion - according the the guy at the store he should be about 6 months old. But he is thriving. I have read years worth of posts from some of you about enclosures, heat, temps, shed, mice vs rats, humidity, substrate, how often to hold them, different morphs...I'm so grateful that there are people willing to share what they know. Without this forum, I don't know how well Tiki would be faring right now. Information on the web in general about BPs is completely contradicting from one site to the next.

So I stay because I have soooo much to learn, and I love seeing all the pics and hearing all of your stories. Thanks!

Growing up in Hawaii, I've always wanted a pet snake, but they're illegal there. Now that I'm living in the contiguous states, having a snake is no big deal.

I was doing some googling one day for snake info, and found this site. I stuck around for all the pictures, but now that I've found a place where everyone loves snakes, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. The majority of people tend to be scared or nervous around snakes, but there's none of that here.

And of course, there's so many pictures of cute snakes. :3
