A Word on Our Photo Contests

We only have ONE valid entry this month. One kitty for the POTM contest. Not a single valid entry for BPOM or HOTM. (Unheard of!)

I know we have had several complaints about uploading images in general, so I'm hoping that is the reason, rather than a complete loss of interest in the contests. Our only valid entry was submitted just today, so maybe the upload issues have been fixed? I haven't heard the tech report on that issue, so I'm not sure if it has affected the contests or been resolved yet. I'll be looking into it.

In the meantime, today is the last day of the month for valid November contest entries. If we don't or can't receive entries today, then I will roll everything over one more month. We'll keep the "Kitty" themed POTM and leave the current winners up, and hope we can get a better turn-out for December.

If, by some miracle (and 'tis the season for miracles!) we get lots of entries submitted today, enough to cover each category for a fair contest...then I'll post the contest polls tomorrow as usual. If we only get a few ball pythons (for instance) and not enough of anything else, then all images will stay in the queue and will roll over into the December contests.

I tried uploading a picture for BPOM a few weeks ago. I kept getting an error on it so I gave up. I will try again now.

Me and my daughter submitted pics last week. It said they went, after several failed attempts. Will try again a bit later today.

I tried last month and it wouldn't let me. I didnt bother this month. If there was a way to do it on tapatalk i'd be more apt to participate.

i entered a picture in HOTM too.. said it uploaded. i was just waiting for the admins to "accept" it.. but it's not there. must be some sort of technical problem. i'll try uploading it again right now.

I think a separate section in the forum for this contest would catch much more attention.
Especially from the newer members.
Or at the very least stickied links from the area's people would expect to find it i.e. Photography, BP Photo's etc.

I submitted a picture for POTM a while ago and have been watching for it to show up.

I guess it gives me a chance to submit a different picture, since I ended up finding a better one of Ninja! :)

Since I'm just now seeing this update, I won't be participating unless these pictures roll over to December. <BR><BR>I've been one of the ones having issues with uploading pictures. I try and enter almost every month and I think last month was one of the only months I got something successfully entered.

Thank you all for the entries! Unfortunately, we're going to have to roll this over into December. Still too few pictures, but more importantly, still having some serious technical difficulties with the uploads. It seems to be sporadic since some folks got pictures through and others still did not. I tried to manually upload the photos left here in this thread and could not.

I did validate the entries I received in the queue, so if your picture is in the contest gallery, then you know it made it through. Pictures submitted to this thread are still valid and will be added to the contests as soon as we get these technical issues sorted out.

In the meantime, you can leave your photos in this thread if you wish to participate. It's a lot more work for me, so I don't want this to be a regular method of entering contests, but it's better than the alternative when things are broken. :)

And PLEASE review the CONTEST RULES to be sure your photos are eligible.

I'd love to! I got two in September that are really cool and haven't had a formal introduction yet! I need to get a light tent or something sorted out though. My house has absolutely terrible lighting and I can't rely on natural light now that it's winter. I'm so deprived of photo shoots :(

I don't know who thought it was a good idea to paint basically my entire house dark purple, maroon, or lime green. It makes taking pictures impossibe

For the past couple months I've tried to find a place that tells me the themes for the month, but have never managed to find it? At least not in the first 2 weeks of the month. I've tried to enter several times over the years, and have only successfully entered one photo, so I dunno.

It's always mentioned on the thread announcing the most recent contest winners....it's listed under the POTM winning picture on the BP.net homepage....and there's a thread stickied in the Site Info forum that is always updated with the current POTM theme: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...-Monthly-Theme

Make sure there's something white in the photo and you can use it to either fix your white balance either while shooting (depending on the camera) or afterward while processing.

Yeah, I don't do bugs/insects/worms. The T's are my daughter's. They have grown on me though. Especially our little A. Versi, he's hilarious to watch, particularly at feeding time.

I don't think I could ever keep one. I have a hard enough time with the dubia I feed my beardie

I have never managed to submit a photo successfully. It always eats my submissions without any indication that it did or did not go through. :/

can anyone submit a picture? I have tried several times, and it could totally be me or my computer but it's not letting me upload anything!

Mine and my daughter's got through.
