temps

So for some reason last night i kept waking up, i think mostly cause i had temps on the mind. every time i woke up i checked the temps. everything was cool, but this morning at 6 i noticed the hot side temp was down to 80-81, and the cool side had dropped to about 76. before i went to bed it was more like 90-93 on the hot side, and about 80-81 ambient, and the cool side was about 78 or so. i then noticed roswell had changed from the warm side to the cool side. this worried me a bit, being so cold and all. should i worry, or would he be okay once the daytime temps kicked in. i really need to invest in a timer so i do not have to worry about it and wake myself all night long. any ideas on controling a nightime drop????

76 is not a big deal for a nighttime drop. I wouldn't sweat it at this point, but investing in a thermostat before the outside temps drop significantly would be a good idea.

a thermostat for outside temps?? i am not sure i follow. i have an acurite with a probe running to the hot side. the probe is actualy just on top of the substrate. and the acurite is on the cool side. i was going to get a timer so i can have the heat pad turn on at the coolest points, and let the light do the rest. i also want to get some plexiglass to cover up most of the screen, so i can hold in more heat, and humidity.

I think she means the weather/seasons change and it gets colder outside.

A thermostat would be prefect. i use it cause during the day the temps go up due to the sunlight in the room but at night it gets colder in my bp's cage so the T-stat kicks on my heating devices and all is good :)

No. Outside temps affect ambient temps inside your house -- how cold/hot it gets during the heating/cooling cycle. A thermostat on your heating equipment will help you hold a steady temp regardless of what the ambient temps inside your home are.

where would i get one? any home depot? any pics of what i am looking for.. or maybe a link??? :)

ok...so this thermostat would keep your temps at a certain level? i havnt looked into this, but it sounds pretty cool. ill hav to look into it

i havent seen these anywhere, but it is nice to see someone else has. i think i may have to order online, cause none of my local petstores carry this product.. very cool.

You're welcome. I got lucky and picked up a couple on clearance at Petco at the beginning of the summer. :)

I actually use the one Marla posted and have never had any probs with it. I like it, and i highly reccomend anyone to get a thermostat, any kind of thermostat. With the constant changes in the temps here ( ac on, windows open, etc ... ) a thermostat makes the inside of the cage a constant temperature.

i will have to invest some money then
