    Coral Glow Pied!
Someone produced a Coral Glow Pied! I've been waiting to see a Banana Pied for a while now, and I just stumbled on this yesterday-- apparently I've missed it for the past 2 months by neglecting to search coral glow pied as well.

It was produced by Marcus Williams:

All I can say is WOW. This is definitely on my "I want!" list now. I wonder what they will look like as adults!

I snagged these imaged from here: http://www.reptileradio.net/ball-pyt...ieds-more.html

Yep those are from Marcus! He's about 90mi from me and where I got a 2013 coral glow 66% phet clown from. He also threw in a 2012 50% female phet clown. One of the good guys out there! May I also add that his snakes are big eaters. The CG is already 650+ and the female is 1300+

Wow, for some reason I can't stop looking at them. There is just so much you can do with the coral glow bp's. However the coral glow pied's are just out of this world amazing. I have to have one or two or three in my collection.

All I can say is WOW! These snakes are beautiful! Especially love how the pied in combination with the coral glow really emphasizes the pink coloration turning it almost neon-like.

What surprises me most is that it took 10 years for someone to produce them. I'm trying for hets this season. Wish me luck!

Thank you for your input-- I'm glad you contributed to this thread . I did search Coral Glow Pied prior to posting, and it had no results...

The good thing is, you don't need too much luck on this project. Most males produce males, right? You could have a coral glow pied in a year if you bought an adult male coral glow, then bred a coral glow het pied male to a pied female. The chances are minimal that you wouldn't get a male het in a 6 egg clutch. I knew the prices would drop this year drastically due to that "feature" of coral glows/bananas, and the co-dominant nature. Hopefully within my price range in a year or two :)

That is definitely on my list of things to breed for. That may have just changed up a few of my breedings for this upcoming season.

I know there's something special about the coral glows and bananas something about them only making males or females? Could someone by chance enlighten me on this subject

As far as I understand it, a male banana will produce ~90% male bananas, and a female banana will produce ~90% females. It is a sex linked trait, so I'm a bit confused as to how a male can produce a female banana.

I also believe that a clutch from a male banana to a normal, MOST males will be banana (again, probably ~90% of the males are banana), and most females will be normal.

This is only from what I can remember gathering when I searched on this a while ago, and found some people who had asked big breeders on the subject. It could be 99.99% or it could be 75% though, so don't quote me on numbers :P.

    .

No one knows exactly how sex is determined in ball pythons - they may not have a simple two chromosome system. That may be why the %'s look so odd to us now. SOMEDAY I hope to help figure that bit out =)
