Lol. I fail.

So I was handling my butter ball male last night while I was laying down watching TV. Next thing I know I just suddenly wake up and it's 3am and the snake is not in sight. I quickly jump out of bed from a dead sleep and tear my room apart. I finally find him in my closet under the dresser. Lol. He slid back under out of reach so I had to take the drawer out and get him that way. Lol, thought I would share my fail story with you guys. HAPPY THANKSGIVING! :)

First snake, first time feeding. I put him in a cardboard box to eat while I cleaned the cage, then completely forgot about him! Fast forward two hours later when I discover he is missing and tearing the room down didn't produce a wayward snake. It took three days to find him in a little studio apartment. Sneaky snakes!

I popped my pastel in a shallow bath and popped a lid over (not a lid for what I was using) and quickly popped out of the room. I was only out for a minute or so fortunately. I came in to see a tail disappearing into my book case! Close escape!

I think we all do it! Haha

I did something similiar a few weeks ago. I was assist feeding a baby and finally got her to constrict the rat, so I slowly got up and left the room so she could finish eating. I totally forgot about her. Watched tv for a while, went to the store, etc. A few hours later I remember I left her out on the floor. Found her a few feet away curled up in a range bag. Derp...:rolleyes:

Hahah they can go MIA on us sooo fast :) But I always close down the apartment so he can't escape human boxes. But there's always a possibility of tearing down the apartment to find him :)

On one occasion which took only few minutes of not paying attention, i ended up tearing down the apartment looking for him. After a while he came out from behind a closet he was exploring full of dust with what i believe a huge smile on his face ;)

Oh yeah mine also hacked his way under a dresser full of drawers ... he manages to open a drawer only so much that he can squeeze in and off he goes :P But as I've said mine always came out after some short time when he has enough of adventuring.

I have yet to lose a snake, but I will be taking in these tips, just in case!
Luckily for me, I live on the 8th floor of an apartment that doesn't have vents. If I were to lose a snake it would definitely have no way of getting out, at least.

These stories are actually pretty cute, apart from the heart-attacks it sounds like people have!

You would be surprised where they can vanish! Never underestimate a determined snake and your under sink plumbing...

Oh, I definitely do NOT underestimate them! They are sneaky lil buggers (and STRONG). I just don't have any vents in my home - baseboard heaters, which is where I'd look first - and 4 sliding doors that are lockes at all times to the balcony, as well our only door has a wooden lip that paper can't even slide under.
I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up somewhere crazy though. Just not out of the apartment... and if they did magically get out, boy, would that be fun explaining to the landlords.

Snake handling can definitely be a natural sedative. :gj:
I've been in almost the exact same situation. Twas 6 oclock at night when I was chilling with Boots before I time warped into 9 oclock at night and Boots was no where to be found. Hysteria ensued. My bed was ripped apart, objects were flying from my room to the doorway and into the hall as I dug through all my junk. I went bolting into every room upstairs in my house, letting expletives loose at the thought of losing my beloved snake and the remorse of "bad keeper" was setting in quick. An hour of pandemonium was brought to an end when all I did was roll open my closet door and there she was just checking out the scenery in plain sight.
From now on, I make sure to crack a Monster or two open before handling my snakes. :P

2 weeks ago I hear a weird noise coming from my tank,but I'm thinking nothing...it's like12 midnight..noise stops after like10 mins,I pass out ,wake up at 130am,look behind me and my one cat is staring at the tank,I'm wondering at she is looking at,so I turn on the light to see my little 80 gram Black pastel,just chillin laying on the tin foil,lol...I didn't slide the screen on fully, he creeped out through a tiny slit. But was a good boy just laying there.. My cats were even better and didn't bother him

Try inside the walls of your house....my little Lucky was missing for 28 days before we found him OUTSIDE. I always have a bit of hope ;)

Let's not forget these animals been around for millions of years...they know how to survive. ..this is why they can go months and months without eating . They really are an amazing species,so interesting.
