    Possible Boa love?
Snek the Arabesque has been in with Bella the Hypo for over a week now.

Bella has "the signs" in Jeff Ronnes' ready-for-love list including the soft, rounded/lumpy body, peculiar positioning, looking fatter than she should and taking quite a few "big drinks of water" which is really kind of odd, for her.
    She's been crazy ravenous, lately.

She's also gone unbelievably dark in color.
[not sure what that means, if anything]

Snek has been 'cuddling' her like crazy and even stuffing himself into her hide with her and just generally being obnoxious by laying on her no matter where she goes.

However, several times I've seen him lying on her upper deck, alone.

    Tonight, though I found this going on;

They're side by side, stretched out and he's got her wrapped up and his tail is wagging like crazy.

    Is this "love"?

Even though they've both successfully bred for their previous owners, it's my very first attempt at boa babies and I'm so excited to see something "happening" that I can barely stand it.

Over 9 hours later, they're still at it.

    :O

So...how do I know when they're 'done' or whether it was successful?

When they separate they are done. I then remove the male for a few days rest and a meal. Then out them back together. This continues until you see the female ovulate. Generally the female will refuse the male after that but I keep pairing a few more times after that just to be sure.

They are lying side by side with their cheeks touching but he's no longer wrapping her up.

I will put him back in his own house.

    Thank you!

She ate happily, he didn't eat.

This is the first time he's not eaten his rat.

Is it normal for him to not eat after mating?
