1st feed with us, live or f/t?

I'am already picking up my second bp tomorrow. The guy said he's on live rat pups. When it's time for feeding since it will be the 1st feeding with us, Should I just give a live rat pup or should f/t

I would definitely feed live first, as that is what it is used to. After a couple consistent feeds then try and switch to f/t if that's what you prefer

I'd try f/t.
I was able to switch 2 out of three formal live eaters.
One baby and one 600g girl on their first food with me.

If your worried then i'd do what Monkee said.

Depends on what you'd prefer. If you don't mind feeding your snake live, might as well stick with what he or she is used to.

If you want your snake to eat F/T, then offer F/T first.

When I buy new bp's ( I have 10 now) I will let them settle in for a week. Every bp I have bought has been a live feeder. I have offered frozen for their first meal and 9 of the 10 have taken frozen. (the 10th that did not take frozen is an adult and is used to eating live her whole life) My personal opinion would be to offer frozen to your new bp and if it does not take the frozen offer it live in the same sitting. next week come feeding time try frozen again, if it does not take offer live. I have not had to do this more than 2 weeks with my new younger bp's.

my male bumblebee has been a live feeder his whole life (before I got him) when I did get him I offered him f/t he would strike at it and miss every time. when he finally did hit it he would loose interest. The way we overcame that is to feed him while he is still in his hide. I just walk the mouse in to the hole his hide, he hits it and takes it without any problems. I use the feeding while in their hide technique to a few of my bp's that would have problems hitting the mouse correctly.

I was more leaning to trying live for the 1st setting but debate with my wife I will try f/t and see how it plays out. I'am getting another baby he said all of them are between 100-200grams

If your main goal is to eventually switch to frozen I would try frozen first.
If you have no intention of switching to frozen then don't offer one.
If you offer a frozen and it does not take it simply put in a live.

It isn't as big of a deal as you think also. Last Tuesday I received a Butter pastel female and a Granite Lemonblast female. By Saturday they were both on frozen thawed. Both had been live eaters their whole life.

f/t, and if its a baby im pretty sure it will take it. I soak them in hot water before offering, and they have a great response to the heat.

i would first try what you would like the snake to be eating, and if that fails, try what the snake is used to.

I'am only asking as I thought it would maybe cause stress to the new snake by offering him/her f/t since it's not use to it nor the surroundings. We prefer f/t 100%

You can try it, but don't be discouraged if she doesn't take it, if she refuses.... try a live 5-7 days later, if she takes that feed a few times then try and make the switch
