Slayer November 27 MSG in NY & E-Town Concrete NOV 29 Starland ballroom in NJ
My First time seeing Slayer in 6 years, maybe 7,I think 6. Last time was with an ex at PNC in NJ..Idk wth I was thinkingthat I haven't seen them in this long.but when me and that ex broke, well she had hooks and was friends with the guitar tech for slayer and maiden,so we use to get VIP passes always, but whatever,I'm back and seeing them the 27, I'm pumped already. Sucks that Hannemans gone, but still going to be an insane show.. Then going to see E Town Concrete 2 days later, always a good show and violent pitts..how can you not love E town..Anyone else going to either of these shows?
-
Nope, the only show we have lined up is Children Of Bodom at the House Of Blues in Cleveland in March. Saw them a couple years ago at Peabody's in Cleveland. Glad they are playing at the HOB this time around. Hands down our favorite venue in Ohio and they have really comfy mezzanine seating. Peabody's is a little dump that we avoid like the plague. Last few concerts we went to were: Black Veil Brides/Bullet For My Valentine, Machine Head/Mastodon, Drowning Pool/Flyleaf and Katatonia/Opeth. All were at the House Of Blues in Cleveland.
Real shame about Hanneman. He will definitely be missed!

I think they throw summer of hate at peabodys, which is an all hardcore lineup...I'm not much into death metal, well that's more my bros thing, but one band I'm dying to see is cannibal corpse. Last few years I only been seeing hardcore bands to name a few...terror, ETown ,bulldoze, skarhead, crown of thornz, judge,MadBall, agnostic front ,sick of it all, suicidal tendencies,indecision...I've seen many more bands Amy times such as Clutch, allman bros, lynyrd skynyrd,i can go on and on...

Peabody's gets quite a few decent acts, but it is a dump, horrible sound system and is always severely overcrowded, so we skip those shows. It isn't worth the hassle and bloody ears.
Cannibal Corpse made it to Cleveland a while back, but it was at Peabody's, so we passed. They are definitely on our bucket list of concerts. Not really an old school death metal fan, either, but c'mon, it's Cannibal Corpse! Pair them up with Slayer and Nile... Siiiick! |m/
I couldn't even begin to name half the concerts I've been to. Easily 100+. Mostly metal concerts, but I've seen everything from Turbid North to Ted Nugent to Elton John.
-
I saw them twice both on the mayhem festival. I can't get enough of Slayer.
-
I can't get enough of Slayer either they never get boring. There just too great man.
also, slayer and CC would be an insane show,I'll tell you I would leave with a black eye no doubt, that's just got extreme violence written all over it...love. Violent pits..

You would be a "hardcore" dancer. Everything makes sense.

I HATE pits and I firmly believe they should be kept at the back of venues in a closed off area. Let the people who want to watch the show be up close where they can see the show. Nothing I hate more about metal concerts than being shoved by some little jerk, especially when they shove my 120 pound wife, while we are trying to enjoy the show from a decent vantage point. I get the "It's a metal show, dude!" or "It comes with the territory" all the time. That is bullcrap and selfish! There are people who like watching the band play and enjoy the music. It is a major buzz kill getting shoved and is extremely rude. If you wanna expend some energy, fine, do it at the back of the venue so those that those who want to watch can actually see the show since pitters aren't interested in watching the show itself. When my old band and I played shows, we made sure that the pitters respected those who want to watch the show and would set up a designated area towards the back where they could go nuts without ruining the show for all the others. Those that shove either of us get one warning. After that, I have no problem knocking them down a peg or two. We paid good money to enjoy the show.
-
I hate people who whine about the atmosphere of a metal show. Honestly, if I'm not in the mood to be in the pit then I will swing first and give warnings later. Take care you yourself, first. Yeah, it sucks, but that's the culture you're participating in.

Yup! If we wanted to be in the pit, we would be in it. Don't drag us into it! Most pitters turn tail the second you throw a fist in their face and promptly move to the other side of the pit to hassle someone else. That is why we love venues like the House Of Blues in Cleveland. It has great mezzanine seating that is still close enough to see the band well. The same rules apply to the folks who are in the mezzanine seating who feel the need to stand up and dance, blocking everyone's views. I wasn't the only person to pour beer and nachos onto the heads of the folks at the last concert who wouldn't sit down. :gj:

Hey,everyone is entitled to there own opinion. Most I'll say is I'm 5'8" 210 and my boy is 6'1" and 280, at the black N blue bowl of hardcore this past May, I jumped in the Pitt which I rarely do any more, ever !I remember MadBall was playing. My boy on accident back fisted me in the nose,I thought it broke, was dripping blood, took my shirt off, held my nose,it stopped bleeding after so many minutes, bout a new shirt and jumped right back in,I just was feeling pumped..I can give shots,so I have no problem taking them..and have many times..oh well I love everything about the hardcore scene, the music ,the ppl,the pits..I have nothing to complain about, but what I'll say is these shows aren't for the weak..be prepared toget knocked around, kicked down whatever,it's part of the scene...

This is exactly why I think pitters need to be in a closed off section. Again, I have no problem if pitting is someone's thing, go nuts, but there are people who don't enjoy being injured and being required to be in harms way just to enjoy a live show because it is "part of the scene" is simply not right. It is wrong to involve someone in something they don't want to be a part of. That is why I get angry and I why I think pitters need to have their own closed off section. Safety and respect for other patrons. Not a lot to ask, really. How do you think a 120 pound woman is gunna fare when some 280 pound man drags her into the pit? She doesn't stand a chance. What about kids who want to see a show? Should they just not go for fear of being injured? Would you shove a joint in someone's face at a reggae show just because it is "part of the scene"? No, you wouldn't.
I'm out.

Dude I def hear ya man.. I also thnk where the pit winds up being located is also based on the venue. Like you most likely,I have been to many venues..some the size of a studio apartment specifically Satost pary house and been to ones at Madison square garden or Webster hall in NYC or Starland ballroom in NJ,just to name a few . It seems the bigger the venue the pitts seem to wind up in the middle, yet smaller spots in winds up in front. Most hardcore and metal shows are in small reg places,so no matter where u really stand u always have a good view.

So true... Some of the best shows I have been to have been in places where you could walk in the door and see the stage. As long as the pit is righting in front of the stage all is right with the world.

For the record..beyond fatal...nightmares of a fallen sun...best song ever... They quit making tunes a minute ago but still by far my favorite metal song.

There should be a pit etiquette refresher before every show.
Too many people don't know how to behave.
I used to go to shows, a few metal but majority was Punk.
Over the years it seemed like more of the younger guys had something to prove and had no clue how to mosh/skank...why the elbows, tripping, knees and full body checks?
The skank pit is more fun anyways.
No cheap shots and people dont leave on a stretcher.
Still get banged up pretty good but never crossed a line of intentional assault.
P.S. Madball is the shizz!

Yup,absolutely and it's on the reg..big venues or places don't really throw hardcore shows or metal, the scene is very underground aso most places where they play are small low key joints. Jo matter where I go to a show,I'm also round the Pitt,if not I can always see the show from any angle.
james I agree bro,I'm fine with the pit in front of the stage..if it bothers ya hang at the bar, well if pits bother ya,then find a new scene to go to shows then.

slayer was was killer at the Garden..I always love seeing them. Was just weird not seeing Hanneman to Arayas left side side. Left side from the audiences view....
e Town concrete played a set that lasted almost an hour and 40 mins, there pits are straight brutal, well there is no pit,the floor is the Pitt. every time I see these dudes,it's just intense..my fav band to see live.
Cro mags playing dec 21 Santos Party house...debating on going but spoke with my boy and well we gonna pass. Lineup kinda sucks.

Me and my boy were going to go,but idk man. I'm not to thrilled about the line up. Besides cro mags and wisdom in chains,I can't find anything else I like. Danny Diablo is good but gun he is doing hardcore, idk what the hardcore all stars are though, maybe some hip hop crap he does also..I'm trying to find out who exactly the NYHC All stash consist of.plus wisom in chains should be playing before Cro mags if anything..
