    ok, i thought so.I looked them up on the internet but didnt find very much useful info . How long have you had it ? Do they really sleep for months at a time ?

    auto misting, auto lights, and auto everything.. i am lazy
    I don't know I've only had it for 3 days. According to it's original owner this guy is 10 yrs old.

    I love the joke!
    A friend of mine is looking into getitng a Russian tortoise within the next year.
    Any useful info you could spare?
    And personal experiences that could teach a useful lesson?

    do they absolutely need to be kept outside in a pen or can you just keep them in a giant tank ? .Its cool that thye can eat all those plants, i have alot of those growing in my moms garden

    The problem with tanks is that the think if they can see through it they can walk through it, and they'll keep trying to walk through the glass. But if you get a large enough tank (minimum 75 gallon: 48x18) you can remedy that by putting some type of border around the base of the tank (at their eye level) so that they can't see through it. At least this is what I was told when I was looking into them.

    Hi! I realize that these are old posts---but are the original posters still around?

    I have a Russian tortoise too! I just noticed this forum down here---I've been busy up at the top with the BP folks :)
