The world keeps giving me signs to add to my collection!

Over here in the UK an albino female BP goes for around £400 and a bumblebee male would go for around the same if not a little bit more (we'll estimate another £400). An albino female is on my wishlist as I have a het albino boy (which some of you may already know) and I have my pastel female, and a spider boy on his way.

A local guy is looking to get out of the hobby and is selling his CB13 albino female, CB13 bumblebee male and CB13 100% genetic stripe female for £350, an extra £40 to come with rubs. Having such an internal battle! :( He has lowered his prices, originally they were selling for £550!

I have no idea how much that is in US dollars. Is it alot?

£350 = $556.29 for a female albino, male bumblebee and 100% het genetic stripe.
He was originally selling for £550 = $874.17 and the albino and bumblebee are worth at least £800 alone = $1271.52

BP's cost a heck of a lot more over here!

If you get one, don't pay the extra 40 for the rubs. You don't need to, girl!

All three have to be sold together, I was interested in the bumblebee and albino. Problem is I don't have spare rubs and for me to buy rubs, heat mats and stats (which he is selling) it would cost me £114.00 ($181.16)

Everything looks so much more expensive in dollars :O

3 x rub at £8 = £24
3 x heat mat at £10 = £30
3 x stat at £20 = £60 (rough estimates)

Going to try to bump the price down to BP's and rubs for £350 ($556.29) and visit my bank for an overdraft (?)

Man wish I had the money for them lol. Ive always calculated $2=£1. That way I always had the money for what I wanted. Its interesting finding out prices for your pets from another country. Yes I was stationed in England.

I am currently negotiating with my nan to let me lend the money from my savings (which she controls so I don't spend it all when I'm at university) on the basis I pay it back. I look at prices of BP's in the states and wish I lived there just for the hobby! I worked out that my pastel was $280 but should have been $400 full price when converted into dollars and you guys can get pastels for around the $100!

Jealous Brit right here!

Sounds reasonable. I am getting a male bumble bee, male albino, and normal female het albino for $500 shipped...plus $350 for male lesser het ghost and butter female. 500 USD=371.96 Euro...looks like you're beating me by a touch (lol).

Nice package price there - just be careful because sometimes good deals are too good to be true. You also want to make sure you can keep the new animals away from your existing collection for a few months in quarantine to make sure they are healthy etc.


What are rubs?!

RUB = Really Useful Box i.e. plastic tubs

The guy wants to get out of the hobby which is understandable but I will be keeping the new additions away from my others. I am staging quarantines in my very small flat as much as is possible. I have my male spider coming tomorrow night and if I get these three it will take my collection to 6 (dealable yeah?) I just can't help myself! Needed an albino for my het boy and both the spider and bumblebee will eventually go nicely with my pastel. The het genetic stripe may have to wait a year or so for her boyfriend though!

6 is totally manageable. Even 20 snakes are fairly easy to care for but I think you'll find that around 6 will still give time to enjoy each of them and not feel like their care is a chore.

I'm really excited! My family don't understand why I love snakes and can't understand how they can make someone happy (guess I'm the only one with the herp gene!) My grandparents are coming around to the idea a little bit though, as long as they stay away from them. I didn't find much difference between having one and having two apart from being able to handle for longer. Cleaning doesn't take very long and I very quickly got over the fact I have rodents in my freezer.

Buying my first BP was definitely the best choice I have ever made!

I thought I would see this decline in contact with my animals when I started working, college, and buying more specimens all at the same time; however, I actually feel like I am spending more time with them as far as handling goes because I have less free time and have to focus that time so I found myself handling just as much as I clean the cage or anything else. Bob Clark goes to a lot of European shows, maybe give him a call and work a payment plan on a nice GS to pick up at the next show he attends.

There is a store near me with a little pied boy in bred by Bob Clark for £700 (which is cheap over here, usually priced at £1200) I fell in love with him but on a student budget he was a little out of my price range and I'm glad I held back as I can now facilitate getting these three (fingers and everything else crossed!)

Anyone know how much you're looking at for a genetic stripe? Would be looking for a male as my het is female :)

Over here retail is about $300-$350 for a started hatchling male, so 223.95 Eu-261.28 Eu...but it seems like UK prices are a bit higher.

I might look into it properly next year, I think if I buy any more I might cause someone in my family to have an aneurysm! ;)

If you decide to go through w it I would offer him less and see what he says. If he is tryin to "get out of the hobby" he is lookin to just dump the snakes instead of doin the work it takes to make top dollar on them. Make him an offer and the worst he can say is no, but I wouldn't pay as much as he's asking.

Already made an offer lower, he won't take it as he is already selling for a ridiculously low price compared to shop prices. He had them advertised for more and separately and obviously wasn't finding the sellers.

That's always what I just about figured...we are double UKs prices

That's a really good deal if you're able to do it then go ahead but if you can not make it happen don't beat yourself up over it. Either way eventually you'll have a large collection even if it takes some time.

Yes. 1 Euro=1.35 USD, therefore 1 USD=0.74 Euro.

According to google (I honestly don't know what I did before this) $1 is £0.62

I think I'm basically guaranteed these BP's luckily I said I was interested and would take them before other people realised he had dropped the price. Although I wasn't looking at getting a het genetic stripe I'm happy to take her anyways, every BP deserves a good home and I would have hated if I'd gone for the other two and he'd ended up giving her to someone for a lot cheaper who had even less knowledge.

My only problem is he is so slow at replying to messages, I keep checking the UK forum he is selling on to see if he has replied. So impatient at wanting to find out arrangements to collect them/view them etc. I have told him I will 100% take them so fingers crossed he does keep them for me!

100% agree! Me n hubby have 22 snakes, (2 are for sale) and i think around 20 is probably the largest easily enjoyed/managed size collection you can have. ;)
