My BP Won't Eat (Starts and spits out) - Help!
Hey guys so today's feeding did not go well. I tried to feed my BP yesterday with an appropriately sized rat (I've even seen her do bigger). She snatched and killed the rat fine, and started eating fine, but when she got the rat down to the head, she spit it out. I had to throw the rat out, but because she only took the head and didnt regurgitate the whole thing or anything I didnt think it was a big deal. Today I tried to feed with a new rat, and AGAIN she striked and killed easy, ate to the front legs, and spit it out. Its so frustrating! Whats wrong and what do I do? :rage:

Well first... only try once a week. What is your setup like?
    Size of enclosure, temps, etc.
Do you know her weight or age?
How long have you had her?

she is in a 30 inch long tank with a warm side that stays around ~91 and a cool side thats around ~83. She has 2 hides which she loves. I am not sure of her age but last week weigh in was 1278 grams and is about 3.5 feet long. I have had her for about 3 months

Set up sounds good, she sounds about breeding age...possibly a seasonal fast though females are always a bit more unpredictable about seasonal fasting. If you want to be extra sure then you might wait about two weeks and try an African soft fur.

Leave her alone and let her eat without you watching her. You could be stressing her out by watching her eat. Even if you have to, cover the cage with something so she feels more secure. Don't handle her for a week and try it out.

x2 that's what I was going to suggest, once she has a good coil leave her be.

Just make sure you're not feeding live if doing this. This probably goes without saying, just felt like adding it in there...

He could do it with live. All he has to do is not let the snake see him while he supervises the feeding
