Lucky is the LUCKIEST snake ever.
So, I haven't had time to share this story until now, and have been dying to tell it. On September 11, 2013 "Lucky" was born. His mom was a cinny, dad was a firefly. One egg survived out of the clutch - the rest were slugs. That one egg got the best of both....it hatched out a pewterfly. Leetle Lucky ;). On October 5, Lucky went missing. :( He only had 5 meals in his tiny baby belly. We searched and searched. My husband tore the house apart looking for him. We found a hole at the corner of the baseboard where our carpet doesn't quite cover, in the very room Lucky was in. Hubby even bought an endoscope with a camera to snake through the walls of the house. No baby. For the next 28 days, we both tore the house apart looking for him. Hubby went in the crawlspace under the house. I couldn't sleep. I kept worrying about my baby. But I just had this feeling....I just KNEW we'd find him. On November 1st, I got a call at work....it was hubby. It sounded very urgent. He found Lucky.....OUTSIDE!!! He was thin, and had a few small "owies", but that was it. That particular day was 72 degrees and sunny. Exactly two days later, the temp went down to 28 degrees. I just cant imagine the odds of survival that little Lucky beat! Not only through the inside walls of our house, but how n earth did he get outside? And once he got outside, what then? We have cats, skunks, and birds of prey in our yard. Not to mention, the countless kids and neighbors that Im sure are terrified of snakes. When hubby saw him, he was slithering through the grass (and clover lol) right next to the walkway to our front door. Hubby had just arrived home from a friends house at that time. If he arrived just ten minutes later, Lucky would have already made it to our neighbor's front yard. No kidding, the day after Lucky went missing, I found a four-leafed clover in the very patch of grass/clover hubby found him slithering through 27 days later. I took that as a sign we'd find him. I put the four-leafed clover in my wallet, and have kept it since. We all make mistakes, no one is perfect. Let this story be a reminder to never give up hope...even if the odds are stacked against you. Currently, Lucky has been eating voraciously, has shed, and is back to his normal self. :)

The born on 9/11 thing is a weird luck detail too, I suppose.
