Announcing Isabelle, my first morph! (Wall of text warning, lol)
Well, I am finally feeling like this is real enough to share, so here goes-- I am officially getting my first morph in about 2 weeks and I couldn't be happier with her!

Isabelle is a whopping 70g of stunning 0.1 Pastel. Stay tuned for a Good Guy review of her breeder and some fabulous photos by BHReptiles!

I've been in correspondence with Breanna at BHReptiles for several months now, shooting the wind and talking prospects for a potential buy. Her two clutches hatched out within a week of each other in early October, one made of Black Pastels and normals, the other a survivor clutch of two viable eggs. Breanna sent me photos of all available Black Pastel females after their first shed at my request, then tacked on a photo of the available baby girl from Clutch #2, and it was love at first sight.

This was her pre-shed photo, and even with her egg-skin still on, my jaw dropped. Keep in mind, Pastels have never been a particular favorite of mine as far as single-gene animals go. But as I fought with myself about where this female could fit into my breeding plans, I realized that every combo I want to go for in fact has Pastel in it. So it feels sort of meant to be, lol!

Here are the post-shed photos Breanna was kind enough to send me after I voiced my intense interest:

    http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/11/09/e7edapy5.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/11/09/9eby7e3y.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/11/09/u3evasaz.jpg

Breanna has really been as helpful and patient as humanly possible through the process of putting my deposit down. She's kept me up to date on the hatchling's weight and feeding response, and bore with me as I waded through some tedious go-arounds with my bank to secure the deposit. Now I'm about 2 weeks from officially having Isabelle in my hands!!

I am just too excited, it feels like Christmas came early for me this year!! :D

She is a very beautiful little lady. I myself am interested in getting a good female morph so that later on down the road I can try my luck at breeding, but that won't be for a very long time yet. I still have a lot to learn about breeding and caring for a clutch of eggs and hatch-lings. I worry I may be going to the vet often for mistakes or health problems. >.< But your girl is very vibrant and beautiful and I love her. :) Congrats on your beautiful prize!

Me either! I'll be finalizing her tank tonight, blacking out the sides and part of the front, and finalizing temp management. I think I'm even more excited for her than I was for Magnus, and that's saying something!

Good news: She'll officially be here sometime next week! Everyone pray to whatever gods suit your fancy that the weather proves to be nice and balmy on Monday for little Isabelle's trip from Texas to Pennsylvania! (squeaking in at the absolute last second, I know...)

Breanna and I were in contact about temps this whole week, and last night was the safest bet, with the exception of Wednesday into Thursday. I'm pretty glad I'm having her held at FedEx on a day like today though. That was never in question, I live in an apartment and I didn't wanna take the risk of her going out in the truck.

Oh yeah...I was completely worried about temps. But last night I felt pretty good about temps knowing she would be held at a hub. We knew this was our last shot. She arrived safe and sound with a warm heat pack so she did okay!

She's here!!! Perfect condition, flawlessly packaged, and a really mild temperament, even after her overnight travel. I somehow will never get over how tiny baby snakes are...

She's VERY mild. It's lovely. A moment after this photo was taken, she began to uncurl and explore my friend's jacket collar. And she's been exploring her new home since I put her in to rest. I'm hoping she'll curl up and take a nap soon.

And her unboxing video! You can't really hear me well in it, but I was so excited that my voice was super-quiet and careful not to startle her.

Man...they must have jostled her around a lot -_- that heat pack was super taped to the lid. But...that's why there's paper on top of her in case it does fall (like in this case). I'll try something new next time >:)

Glad she made it safe and sound! Enjoy her.

She was nice and toasty, so even if the pack came loose, it still did the job. I'm just glad she's home safe. Thanks again. So far she seems to prefer cuddling in paper towels to her terra cotta hides, so I may think up something new for her, maybe some sandwich Tupperware to give her less overhead space. I'll continue the updates as I observe her. It's so hard to just leave her alone and watch, I keep telling myself "one week", lol!

Oh yeah, I'm not messing with anything until at least after she eats. If she still doesn't wanna use her hide while she's digesting, I'll rethink and change after her two days to relax. She did christen her tank overnight, though. Woke up to a poo.

    Well, time for an update:

Isabelle is really mild-mannered. She hasn't wanted to eat for me yet, but she also hasn't lost any weight, so I'm not panicking yet. I've started handling her in 10-20 minute increments at a time, starting yesterday. She hasn't hissed or struck, although she curls up pretty tight upon entering her tank, and she can be a speed demon if she thinks there's half a chance of getting away with it. Once out though, she unfurls on her own time and is very curious and eager to see and smell everything in sight. She's proven to be a periscoper, which is thrilling! She is also very confident with her movements-- the only time she ever seems to cling to me is with the very tip of her tail, which is pretty adorable-- she'll go anywhere within her reach, as long as her bitty tail is wrapped around my thumb or necklace. Heh.

    I  her. =D
