First normal BP - Totti
Hi all. Got my first bp today after considering and researching on it for a week. Had 3 wild asian ones a few years back, very aggressive and not a pleasant type to keep. Got this fella at noon and handled it twice, a curious little fella, and fed without problem just now. Pics are blurry, altho its tame but I haven't held a snake in years.
Got most of my info from other posts here while researching. This site sure helps a lot. Idk if its a he or she but I'll just call it Totti.

Congrats and welcome to the site! This site is definitely a good place to come for info!

Yup. Got most info from here while considering it; feeding, housing, living condition, shedding, handling etc...
Btw, I'm keeping it in a black plastic housing with semi-clear top, is it advisable to cover the top with dark cloth most of the time n after feeding?

Me personally I don't like dark tubs that are always closed up,I think it's cruel and unfair. So don't See why anyone would want there animal to live in darkness...even though they are in hide 90% of the time..I feed my snakes right in there enclosure and I have them in tanks.. So ,no, covering the top dark is not necessary. They don't kill in there hide, just while he is eating leave him be,don't try petting him or picking him up,just leave him be. Try not to over analyze every situation. Just keep it warm and humid and comfortable and hive him a place to hide and you will be fine. As complicated as people make it sound around here at times when it comes to husbandry,I have my first 2 snakes for three months now and I have evrything running basically perfect. Took a while of messing with diff watt bulbs, placing the heat domes etc...but once u find that spot, stick with it

First shed. Took bout 1.5hrs, some time after eating. The newspaper looks funny. One girl looks amused, while the other feels Totti's head is too heavy for her shoulder :D

In one of the pic above it looks like she has a stuck eye cap. Beautiful little one tho. Love the pattern. Could just be her going into shed tho.

Only the last pic in my prev post is post-shed. So its 48hrs since eating n I finally can take a closer look at its color.

Pre-shed I thought the patches are gonna be bronze-ish rather than yellowish.

Will continuous rainy days spoil their appetite?.. the last 2 mouse went to Disneyland in less than 30 mins...

this lucky fella lasted a good 5 hours! I'll try his luck again tomorrow.
They sorta got an agreement goin "Hey this is my corner, thats yours". I found em both sleeping in opposite corners.
I found out mine's a male.. He got a girlfriend at the store which is larger than him. When I went to get this Super Mouse, the worker who takes care of the snake went "Hey.. this one is your BP's girlfriend when he was here". LOLLL

Meh.. Still no luck today. Its ok even if they go off-feed for a week rite?
-
Yup! Especially since he just ate recently. It's not uncommon for them to go a few months without eating. This, of course, from a decent sized BP. If a hatchling is doing this it is a problem. 1 week is no biggie. I bought mine having not been fed for 2 :O He's had to skip a week here and there, including this week because of a failed feed. No worries, you and youre new one are all good :gj:

The last 2 feed was ok, 6 days apart... Today is the 8th day since the last feed and still wont eat. Well... Whatever makes him happy, i'll just keep the mice alive or chuck it to the tarantula.

Re: First normal BP - Totti
Tarantulas can eat mice? O_o
-
Yup they do.. Youngins, not full grown mice.
-
Finally. A few thuds in the tub and a big bulge.. R.I.P. Mighty Mouse, 3 days of return trips to Hell and now ure officially BP crap in 2 days' time

Caught him coming home after curfew trying to return my keys. No more partying, son.

Lol. I love that pix. And congrats on him eating.

What morph is this? I saw 4 seniors at the store, owned by the same guy and left it there for feeding. Not really sure bout the exact morph of the other 3 but can generally tell there are spider, pastel and an albino... but this newly shedded lil fella takes the cake.. and the bakery.. bad quality pic cos dim area in the store... its not yellow but very light milky/beige for the top strip, with faded gray lines and some patches of yellow

I'm starting to feel they are very hard to understand. Today is the 11th day since he last ate, sniff at the mouse n went back to sleep. Can this be due to the weather change? Its tropical here but now its rainy season.
-
He's been on an eating frenzy. 3 mice in 12 days without hesitating (Thurs, Mon, Sat) this is from last nite

The Monday feed was an accident. Wanted to clean the mouse's tub, thought he wont be eating so soon so left the mouse in the snake tub. Came back from washing 2 minutes later and its constricted. I usually go for once every 6 days.
