    Bumblebee or Fire?
Hey guys, need some opinions here (and even other morph suggestions if you'd like)

I have a pastel female who I'd like to breed in a couple of years when she is age and weight appropriate and so far I have found two morphs I am interested in from private breeders in my area. I was wondering which you think would be more appropriate between a bumblebee and a fire to go with her to get killer bees/firefly etc

On the other hand do you think I should be looking at different morphs? e.g. spider/pastel etc

    Thanks in advance :)

What's morphs you work with is completely up to you, and what you like.

Part of the decision should come down to the quality of the snakes that you are looking at. If one is clearly a better example of the morph then that really is probably the one to go with.

Both pairings have the chance to make some cool BP's with powerful genetics behind them. I wouldn't hesitate to add either one of those to my collection.

Well the bee for killer bees, or the fire for firefly, whichever you would happier to see pip out would be the appropriate one to get.

There are so many amazing morphs around my area from private seller's at brilliant pricing. For example, for the price of the bumblebee I could get a spider male and a lemon blast male from another seller (and the bumblebee is going for half the usual rate as the owner is having to give up on the hobby).

I know it is down to quality of the BP's themselves. Anything you can suggest specifically looking out for? :)

Each morph has certain things that you want, and certain things that you don't want.

For example with pastels you want bright yellows with as little orange and brown as possible since the orange and brown will only get worse with age.

This is my pastel female when she was a hatchling:

    And her at 1 kg

    http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/...0.jpg~original

as you can see she's retaining most of her bright colors.

She's a gorgeous pastel! Unfortunately mine isn't quite as bright as yours but I went into it with my eyes basically shut. I have a little more knowledge now about BP's.

I'll have a look at the options and look fully into the possible offspring and see what I think I would personally like to breed in the future. Thank you for your help!

From a breeding aspect do you think my pastel is a little too dull in colouring? (it is bad, un-natural lighting in this picture but haven't got many more of her as yet)

That spider is pretty. I prefer him out of the two.

I was looking for the same thing, a good stud for my pastel female. I chose a Bumble bee, fires do not really appeal to me so they were never in the equation to begin with. Work with what you are interested in.

I think I am going to go with the spider :)

Boy, when they say this is addictive they really mean it! I thought the whole "rats in my freezer" thing would kill off the enthusiasm but it stopped bothering me after an hour!

The spider male is quite small (under 100g) what since RUB would you guys suggest? (Please remember I'm British and gallon tanks etc confuse me :p

Yeah I would go with the spider also. It is really addicting I started with 1 corn 5 months ago and a bp a month or so later and I now have 4 bps and 1 that will be here next week 3 corns 1 rainbow boa and 2 leopard geckos

I bought my pastel one month ago from a rep shop, bought my het albino boy (who eventually needs his own girlfriend as he is a sweetheart) about two weeks ago and looking for my third.

I enjoy looking after them and discovering new things and this website has been nothing but help with that!

Now, to buy in the bits and pieces needed for a new addition. Damn my impulsive buys ;)

Yeah, I did double check that with the breeder (sorry I should have made that clearer in my own post) He also has no noticeable wobble as of yet which was my only concern. From a breeding perspective it would be lovely to get some bumblebees and if I decide not to breed he is a beautiful morph so it's a win, win I think! :)

Would you say he looks like a good quality spider from the photograph?

Instead of a bumble bee or fire, look at fire spiders!
That way you can get bees and fire fly offspring.

I haven't seen them offered anywhere near where I'm from. It seems to be more base morphs around here and for anything further the price gets hiked quite far from my budget. I think my heart is set on the spider but I will definitely keep your advice in mind for future!

    Thank you!

It all depends on what YOU want. Me personally I like the darker morphs, and normals (unless its a pied). I love the looks of the darker ones. There are so many "bright" morphs out there. I'm not looking to breed though. Shoot I wouldn't know where to begin if I did. I did see an almost completely black ball that was very pretty but it wasn't my idea of what I want. I would suggest going on to a genetic wizard and seeing what combos work best for you. I want 1 more ball to complete my collection (the whole 2 I would have then). Then I will sit back and enjoy both along with the other chaos malers in my house lol. I want a boy this time to be "friends" with my dark normal girl. I just haven't found the one I want. I wish you and everyone else good luck with what ever you decide.
