Spider or Pinstripe?
Just curious, if you could choose ONE to put into a combo, by itself, whatever. Which would you choose? I know spiders have the wobble issue, but not including that into your decision. I'm a pinstripe man myself, just love the colors and what they do to combos.

Spider or Pinstripe?
I've always been a fan of the Spider gene. I do like what the Pinstripes do to clean up patterns though.

My first love morph-wise was the spider, so I have to go with spider.
-
I love the spider gene and all of their combos! The wobble issue doesn't bother or worry me. It's rarely detrimental to the snake's health.
-
Pinstripe.
I love pins. A pin was my first snake and first morph.

Spider my female is just so awesome

Re: Spider or Pinstripe?
Spider. ALL day. I have always loved anything spider. I don't care for pin at all.
-
Pins have really grown on me. Spiders have to really wow me to get a second glance anymore. Like killer bees and stuff. But pins, I could go through those combos for hours.

Re: Spider or Pinstripe?
I have a pastel pin but really that's the only pin combo i actually like besides banana pin. Unless you have a project in mind that you'd like to start, then I'd go for the spider. there must be hundreds of nice combos with spider, imo not so many with pins.

Re: Spider or Pinstripe?
Forgot to mention, that I'm actually having trouble deciding what to pair mine with because there aren't many pin combinations i like.

I have two spiders and no pins (yet!).
Gotta say, I LOVE the spider's pattern and color. ;)
Neither of mine have a terrible wobble either.
Don't think my male has any at all, or that I can notice.
The female does tend to slowly go upside down and rights herself pretty quickly. Its only when she's venturing down though.

Re: Spider or Pinstripe?
I already made my choice: pinstripe!
Spiders look cool but I would never buy one, or any snake bred from one, because of the wobble. I don't believe that responsible breeders should be spreading problems like that through the gene pool.

Excellent choice!! I loves pins.
And besides. The world all ready has far to many ding bat snakes. With all the amazing choices available today I can't think of a single good reason to produce more animals with Nero issues.

Here we go...

If it's going into a combo with hypo or mojave in it I prefer pin more, most everything else I prefer spider mixed in. Both are amazing genes that are a must have in my collection.

I prefer pins. I've got a little pin female named Fudge and she's a total sweetheart. I don't see myself starting any projects involving spiders, but I do like the look of some bumblebees.

Here here Doo. Pins dont do it for me.....they just are....blah. But give me a nice spider with high white sides and a kewl cryptic pattern n im happy! Bee, even better :D
We have two spiders ( one gravid :D) and a bee. When we got our male, he wobbled bad-corkscrewed even. But now, at 18 months its not even noticeable. Our big female doesnt even wobble. And my big 2000g bee only "tilts" a tiny bit when shes cruisin around on the carpet. To me, its no issue at all ;)

I currently have a spider. I am looking to get a pinstripe. I like both.
I have to go with Spider.
As far as the Wobble.
My spider has a little to no wobble. The wobble to me is part of what makes the spider gene interesting. As long as the wobble is not major enough to effect the quality of life of the snake it is hilarious to watch.

Re: Spider or Pinstripe?
I like pins more, some spider combos are very nice but a gold or brassy looking pin appeals to me just a bit more.
Oh and Nikki. That OD, fire, YB, pin is crazy. If that is yours, consider me officially jealous.

Re: Spider or Pinstripe?
I dunno. To me, pins and pin combos are just dirty, busy, messy. I don't care for the pattern at all.
-
I don't like most pin combos, but they all magically become better when ghost is added. For the most part, I prefer spiders.
Though my ghost pin is going to my fire honeybee one day, so ghost fire spinners may become my favorite...

...I really need updated photos of Hiverre. She's so much brighter yellow now that's she's about three times the size in that photo.

Re: Spider or Pinstripe?
I love pinstripes. My second BP was a pinstripe and she looks nicer every day.
I am also considering getting a spider combo in the next few month but I am concerned about the wobble issue.

Not mine. But I'll be jealous with you.

Pinstripe is OK, but I like the spider a lot better. It just has so much more potential at least in my opinion. Both of my boys have a little of the wobble but neither are any worse for the wear. :)

I haven't really found a liking for pinstripes. Now I always see another I want lol

After reading this post again, it would appear that the OP's question wasn't a 'spider vs pin' question, but a 'pick your favorite'.
The hard part for me is that there's another question embedded in there, since he said "put into a combo, by itself, whatever."
Put into a combo? Spider, all day. Wobble can be an issue, but the spider gene changes so much about other mutations that it's a must-have for me.
By itself? I really love piebalds. A close second is the BEL. Both have the "wow" factor that even my snake-hating mother in law can appreciate.
But since this became a spider vs pin discussion: by itself, pinstripe. In combos, spider.
Edit: this is what I get for playing on Tapatalk. I see the discussion thread title again AFTER I've replied...And it's spider vs pin. Don't I feel dumb...

I have a spider and a bumblebee and I wouldn't change them for the world! The spider seems to have a very slight head nod in feeding (although this may be because I sort of bounce the mouse gently in front of him) and my bee is brilliant! He eats like a machine and is just a lovely animal to have.
I wouldn't discount a pin and was considering one for the future (in the next year or few years) but I am definitely team spider/spider combo at the moment :)
-
Re: Spider or Pinstripe?
I do love the unique beauty of both the spider and pinstripe morphs. But if given the choice, I would definitely have to side with a pinstripe morph if I were using it for a breeding project. However, I would take a spider morph if I were keeping it as a pet due to the "head wobble" issues that coincide with it's particular genetics.

My fiancee and I were in the same position as you are. We chose the pinstripe. There was just something about her that we really liked. It was a very close race though. The pin just barely edged out the spider.

Re: Spider or Pinstripe?
my opinion changed from before, i think they're both two unique base morphs and it's just up to you. But I'm siding with pin combos, I'd still like to start spider projects tho (and i don't see the wobble as an issue). Here are some of the best pin combos I've seen imo.
Albino pin

Butter/pastel/pin

Spider x pin combo

And this is my own pastel pin and my favorite of my collection.

Even if I took the wobble out of the equation, I still like pinstripes better. No offence to the spiders of course, they are gorgeous as well :) I just love the thinner markings and the back stripe of the pin, they are my favorite. I actually have a little male pin that I got just this weeked!
-
I still prefer the spider. The base morph is just more striking. I love my pinstripe girl though. :)

Re: Spider or Pinstripe?
I'm surprised i missed this thread before. I prefer spiders over pins, but i'm not a huge fan of either morph. Any pin/pastel combo looks dirty to me. I've never seen a clean lemon blast that'd i'd call nice. Whereas i HAVE seen bumblebees that are outstanding, like doolittles or coleslaws. I have 3 snakes in my collection with the spider gene. They all wobble to different extents. I think their quirkiness is amusing. It doesn't seem to bother them much, they still eat, poop and shed just fine.

I just think of my spiders having something like parkinsons disease. Its sorta what it reminds me of. Lol

Re: Spider or Pinstripe?
I would never have a bulldog, just too many health issues. But as for SNAKES, I prefer pins over spiders and yes it's mainly because of the wobble. I'll probably always have both, but the spiders definitely take a back seat to the pins.
One thing that REALLY frosts me about the spiders though, you NEVER heard about the wobble issue until the price dropped to 'only' a few thousand bucks each.
