Cinnamon Lovers: What Look Do You Prefer?
As with many BP morphs, I'm discovering that cinnamons come with a lot of variations in color. I was kind of wondering what is considered the "ideal" cinnamon coloration, and what is actually preferred by everyone, if different? I would think, based on the name, that you would want a dark, reddish brown coloration. But I have seen everything from black to brown to red to high-white-sided. Do some make better combos than others?
-
I like my color to be a rich reddish brown on a deep chocolate, with some purple creeping up on the side.
-
I prefer black backs with lots of floaty or connecting pattern and lots of white coming from the belly up the sides.
-
It's hard to describe what my ideal cinnamon should be. I want a deep chocolate brown base color, cinnamon-brown/reddish blushing, beige to tan markings. The more blushing the better to me. My girl I what I call an excellent example of a cinnamon.

Mother and son. It really shows the randomness and variability, huh?

Yup...even with the natural variations...quality in = quality out...

So what you breed isn't necessarily what you get? Interesting, I wonder how it's determined then. ....I smell experimentation! :D

Yea. You can see the mom is the first one i posted. The two babies i posted are her son and daughter. Lots of variation just between those 3. Thats why i said buy one that YOU like bc the babies you produce are most likely going to be random anyways. As sho22 said, the quality should still be there, just that certain traits aren't guaranteed.

I like darker cinnys with a solid black back and as much of the distorted linear pattern on the sides as possible.

Well you have your basic genes... i.e. cinnamon, mojave, calico, pied, hypo, etc.
Those genes determine what the snake looks like in terms of color and pattern.
BUT in addition to those basic genes you have modifiers, which can modify the pattern and color. I.e. modifiers can make the cinnamon darker or lighter, more red or more black, more pattern or less pattern, etc. These modifiers may work on multiple genes, or may only work on select genes. Depending on what modifiers each parent carries, and how those modifiers combine in the baby will determine what the baby actually looks like. I'm not sure modifiers (or at least not all of them!) have actually be identified or "mapped" out... but I could be wrong. Either way... breeding "good" quality to "good" quality is more likely to give you more "good" quality. If one pair doesn't work, those two animals paired with different animals might work.
It's all very interesting stuff. :)

-eye twitch- >.O Oohhh, I'm gonna blow sooooo much money playing with this..... Darn addicting herps! xD

I love cinnys. I want a DARK DARK snake with the face markings as faded as possible. Blackback with lots of floating connecting alien heads and high silver sides.
-
I am now officially a fan of cinnys. Wow,awesome animals. Never paid mind to them. Til now

I was the same way when I first looked into ball pythons years ago. Was a big fan of the lighter morphs, but overlooked many. Lately , I've really been interested in the darker ones, including the cinny. I'm so indecisive. xD

I want a Cinnapin as my first morph male. A good quality Cinny is better than a lot of other morphs in my mind.

I like a lot of the things you put in the poll, so i'll describe. I like a cinny to look cinamon in color, blushed out, black back, with as long of a dorsal stripe as possible. I have a huge male right now and he is the best snake i own next to my normale female. I would post a pic but my link to photobucket isn't working right now. oh well, maybe later.
