possible snake rack
I was wondering if anyone has ever use some of these shelving units for racks? they seem adjustable i was just wondering about the wood shelves and what type of heat source you could use? i was going to use 67 qt tubs and put marker board on the back and side to keep in the heat

While I'm sure you could do it, if you are going to spend that much money why not just buy a professionally made rack like an Animal Plastics Economy Series CB70 Rack?

AP will even make custom sized racks if you have a particular tub in mind.

i had thought about them but i was looking to use 74 or 67 qt tubs since my gf is very reluctant to put them in racks. she likes them to have the same amount of space they have now since they are in T10 enclosures.

Well AP will make a rack with those big tubs. How much it will cost I couldn't say, but I would at least look into it.
Is she worked about height or just floorspace? BP's being ground dwelling snakes really don't make use of anything more than 5-6 inches of cage height so if you can use shorter tubs you will save a lot of money, and be able to house more snakes in the same amount of room.
Another option would be to get an ARS rack level by level Their 80 series tubs are a good size, and they make some really big tubs as well.

She likes them to have a lot of floor space. Mine do like to climb but nothing over 7". I wanted to male a rack that could hold 4-6 at a time. My house is crazy small and we are quickly running out of room.

You should go to Home Depot, they have perfect shelving units for breeder racks. I put up a DIY

I did use that was my first "rack". It worked well, I had the turtles, the balls, and the geckos on it. The problem is you can only fit a couple tubs to a shelf, and if you put it to where one of the short sides are on the wall, you could effectively use the shelves. It's doable, but I like my melamine and 2 x 4 racks a lot more.

How did you heat yours? did you use the metal with wood shelving or the wire shelving?

The metal with wood, and I ran flex watt across it and also used heat pads.

You can do it either way. I prefer to use a single piece.

There the 5 shelf units from home depot, 24x36. They cost about $50. I just bought one last night and will be assembling a rack out of just one shelf instead of two. :) I'm counting down the hours until my work day is over and I can get to the good stuff!
