    Something new - Dark matter
Result of breeding a panther to a Mojave. Calling this combo " dark matter". The flash took some of the black/ purple colour out so will take photos outside without flash next time it sheds. (photos from two different lighting set ups )

    cheers, John

You totally should have done a chocolate bar name... like Mars, or something ;)
But congrats! I bet we'll be seeing these at shows in the near future!

Very cool looking animal. Have you bred a panther to a panther yet?

I did that this year, but only with a small litter ... think I missed the odds on a super. So far have produced panthers combined with lesser, yb, lesser-yb, Mojave, and calico. After producing the dark matter however I want to now see what panther does with phantom, mahogany, GHI and maybe Cinny/ Black pastel ... maybe also chocolate/ sable ... still loads of combos to try for !

Here is a regular panther and the lesser/ panther combo

IDK....looks like a Mojave to me. What does the panther bring to the table? Is there a super Panther? Looks like there are two lines of Panther the Berry line and TII, what is the difference?

My line is the Berry line, I called them Panthers years ago when they were still a dinking project (I got the founder female out of Africa). The other chap in Holland chose the same name but they are a totally different mutation, not related at all and from what I can tell his don't do anything like my line in combos. Don't have any plain Mojaves to put them next to each other for a photo, but have breed a few hundred Mojaves over the years, and the panthers very different looking in the flesh. The dark matter is much more purple/ dark grey with a very reduced dorsal stripe and alien heads, closest combo in looks would be a black potion I guess. As far as I can tell they are also not a member of the blue eyed allele series.

Thanks for sharing, I can't wait to see what else the mutation does!

Why not try natural sunlight so you get the "true" color? To many color blind people in the BP world.

Yes I agree thats a good idea, however its about 6C/43F outside my UK snake room right now and about to rain again ...so the outside photos will have to wait until next month when I'm back in Florida again ... I'm in the middle of a relocation right now
