    OK- website help needed....
I've just been doing my own website work using WordPress Twenty Twelve and a few plug ins.

Well..... I hate the look of my site- and if I hate it, I'm sure its not appealing to others. I like the content, just not the design and layout.

I want thumbnail photos that enlarge when you click on them and I can't seem to find a plug-in or theme that supports that. I know it exists. I just cant find it. Lots of people using WordPress and I'm sure someone knows the widget I need.

Site link is in my sig.

    TIA.

I don't hate it, content looks good. I think it would look better if the page was static and you scrolled in a frame or something, as in you dont have to scroll back to the top to navigate the page. Also, Id say ditch the huge pics on the about us, contact us and terms of sale pages, in my opinion it should just be the information there, and maybe a small pic or two on the about us page.

I believe the WP themes with the smaller pics would be in the photography section, that looks a bit more like a generic blog template. Way back in the day I used to use dreamweaver and a program I don't recall the name of(But I do remember that Xara made the program) for making custom 3D and 2D webpage buttons if you would like to dress up things and make them more reflective of your own personal tastes.

I'll just give you my thoughts:

First I tired looking for a wordpress plugin as you described, I have never used wordpress so I don't know much about it, but I am very annoyed with he fact that all of these plugins I looked up don't have demo pages so you can see how it functions. How the hell am I supposed to know if their plugin is what I am looking for?

The very white gray behind white content actually hurts my eyes, I changed body.custom-background from {background-color: rgb(230, 230, 230);} to body.custom-background {background-color: rgb(210, 220, 220);} and it was much easier on my eyes at least, its a sutle change but I would suggest playing with the background color a little. Im not sure how wordpress works, but it appears the background color is in the page code and not a css file, so you might have to change it for every page if you choose to do so.

    changing body .site from box-shadow: 0px 2px 6px rgba(100, 100, 100, 0.3); to box-shadow: 0px 2px 6px rgba(100, 100, 100, 0.5); makes the content pop off the background a little more, which i think looks good. line 1613 in your css.

If you like rounded corners, you can add border-radius: 15px; and play with it for example in body .site

i think there is a lot of wasted space above the nav bar, you cut down on the size of it, maybe combine some page or just say Terms or ToS. Then you could have room to put it next to the title and fill in that space.

maybe add some color for the title or stylize the title text in some way

I never thought kindly of shopping carts when selling animals.

Might wanna possibly think of floating the pictures at 33%-50% width for just about every page. This should make the text wrap around the picture and bring the content to the top so I don't have to scroll down for everything. Then if you ever figure out the wordpress picture thing, you could have them click and see the full size view.

your homepage blog, I think the date in your first post looks much better than "This entry was posted in Uncategorized on June 13, 2013. "

Not sure if wordpress will let you but, your collection page I think could condense to having 2 pictures side by side, again if you get the picture plugin you could click to see full size. but I think it would look better than a single line of pictures. maybe at a certain browser width it could switch the single line or something if possible?

I don't think your collection or available page needs pictures on the top.

also I tired it on my phone, chrome and opera, it wastes a lot of screen space in portrait mode.

some pictures, such as the terms of sale one, have a lot of wasted space in the picture itself, I would crop the snake to make a smaller picture.

Well I already gone this far, might as well take a screen shot and make a mock up, just imagine the text not running behind the picture, also I think more square pictures instead horizontal ones might fit better. guess the picture could be a little smaller?

Hopefully you like something and can use it. Good luck with the wordpress plugin search. Honestly I think it looks pretty clean.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I ditched the header images on a few pages.

I would really like to get this thumbnail this figured out without having to do all my pages over again. There has to be some sort of code from a plug in that will allow this??

The other thing already mentioned is a static header. Still trying to figure that one out!!

The pluggin I use for pictures is NextGEN Gallery

Now if you want to rebuild your website and create your own template that fit your needs here is the software I have been using http://www.artisteer.com/?utm_source...tm_campaign=ls

I'm not tech savvy, but I just wanted to give my input from a potential customer perspective. When I click "Available" I only want to see animals that are available. It's a tease to go through and see sold sold sold. Maybe have a recently sold page for those?

    That is a good point.
If I am seriously considering buying snakes from someone, although interesting in what they have been producing when I click "available", I want to see what I can buy. Definitely not what I missed out on buying. I'd look at both but, some separation would be good.

I have officially thrown in the towel on attempting to get the look I want on my own. Hired someone local today to get the look I want on my website.

I "wasted" 4 hours playing with the site when I could have been doing more productive things. My lawn business has me far too busy these days to sit on the keyboard and pull my hair out (not having much left in the first place!!)

I should have a nice working theme in a week or so. I will post back when it is finished.

Some of the suggestions here will be incorporated into the new design.

Let me know how your web guy works out, Corey. With hubby's cancer and all the doctor's appointments, I've decided I just don't have the time to sit down and try to re-do my own site. I'm looking for web guy #3 I guess.

Seems as though without going broke I will need to brush up and learn some code. I had a guy working on it, but the only decent thing he did was design me a logo. I have installed a new WordPress theme that seems to be a bit nicer.... sliders, sidebars all built in.

    Its a work in progress!!

Bearing in mind that I have never used Wordpress or any other web site development "tool" (other than Oracle Forms for work), I code my business web pages in straight HTML with CSS. So, I have no idea if this will work in Wordpress.
Assuming that your pictures are in a subdirectory called images under your main/index page, for a file named pic.jpg with the thumbnail picture named pic_thumb.jpg here's how you code it:
    <a href="images/pic.jpg"><img src="images/pic_thumb.jpg"></a>

    Thanks for the tip!!

I have gone back to working on the site myself as I found a template tat has pretty much what I want. It is still a work in progress, but I like it much better than the original template.

Hey mate, how is the website project going so far? Anything still giving you trouble? I've been putting together WP sites and morphing them to client satisfaction for a few years now so I may be of some help to ya.

The thumbnail plug in you are referring to is called "Lightbox". If you can't find it let me know.

However, several themes on Mojo Themes have that feature already built in. I've bought all my themes (with one exception) from that site. Versatile, affordable and free updates for life :)

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help out!

    Good luck!

Some examples of sites I've put together:

    http://thebestguitarlessons.com (my business)

    http://www.devendecoste.com (portfolio site)

And I'm guessing this is what you're trying to accomplish with the images?

    http://www.devendecoste.com/how-stretch-a-silk-screen/

Mind you I don't code them but do know enough HTML/CSS to play with the custom styles of themes.
