Good dark double gene
I am looking for a dark double gene snake that stays darker as it grows. Pewters and black pewters tend to get lighter as they age and pastaves get lighter as well. I am looking for a double gene that stays mostly black/silver and no yellows or light browns. I am looking at savannahs (cinnamon Mojave), lithiums (cinnamon butter), black pastel lessers, and black magic (black pastel Mojave) but some examples sometimes lighten and I cannot seem find any of these morphs anywhere! Any ideas that I am missing? Thanks

Savannahs are gorgeous. Not getting too light.

I don't know why people don't do them more, they're a great morph.

I'm going to because I think they're nice looking snakes, but that's a couple years in the making :)

Re: Good dark double gene
I imagine the best would be a black pastel GHI or a super black pastel.

I was gonna suggest a Black Pastel combo too. They're great-looking snakes, and I know a few breeders that have a plethora of them available this year.

black pastel het red axanthic = onyx
http://www.worldofballpythons.com/morphs/onyx-ball/
http://www.worldofballpythons.com/morphs/monyx/
cinnamon het red axanthic = gargoyle
http://www.worldofballpythons.com/mo...-red-axanthic/
since cinnamon, black pastel, and het red axanthic are allelic and all are darkeners, these are very dark and stay very dark but still have a pattern.
then there are super cinnamon (very dark brown) and super black pastel (black) and cinnamon black pastel (halfway inbetween), they are patternless, and all these have the duckbill genetic issue to a degree.
black pastel mojave is also nice:

GHI is very pricy but its a very powerful darkener with a healthy super form.

Cinnamons are really pretty too, just thought of that =]

Cinny and bp are allelic, HRA isn't allelic with them.

OWALReptiles says otherwise, so you would need to discuss this with the user "oohwhataloser" (not entirely sure about the username).
http://www.owalreptiles.com/complexes.php
also, only the WOBP morph calculator says otherwise, when i breed onyx to onyx i get stuff like "red axanthic super black pastel". However, red axanthic cinnamon, red axanthic black pastel, and super black pastel / super cinnamon with aditional het red axanthic, are all missing from the morph list.
When i breed onyx to onyx in the OWALReptile morph calculator, i get the correct result of only two-gene BPs:
Male: |
Onyx |
Female: |
Onyx |
Percent |
Fraction |
Traits |
25% |
1/4 |
Red Axanthic |
50% |
1/2 |
Onyx |
25% |
1/4 |
Super Black Pastel |
|
WOBP is always a few years behind on stuff like this.

You could be right, to my knowledge it wasn't. I just checked on WOBP and according to them it isn't. OWAL probably has it right though, idk that.

I really want a Mojave cinnamon or Mojave black pastel but I cannot seem to find any. If anyone can PM me any links that'd be great! Or any dark black pastel combos

Send Plethora of Pythons a message. His screen name is Don. I know he has some Savannahs.

I can't seem to find him on here and his website is not letting me submit a email to him.

There was a thread on BLBC a year or 2 ago about it. IIRC the few breedings, gargoyle never reproduced itself or produced a normal, only cinnys and het reds.
Actually I'm quite a few months behind, I need to do some updating.

Re: Good dark double gene
I think GHI Mojave is awesome but it will be a while before I can get the GHI gene.
For now here is a super chocolate (Garcia line, in the foreground, unfortunately had to sell him) and a chocolate Mojave cinnamon.

Oh, and here is a chocolate mystic I expect will stay pretty dark:

I would try for either cinnamon or black pastel for one gene, and either satin or mahogany as the second gene

If you give me a few years, we plan on making some black pastel Mojaves. ;) My boyfriend is excited about making them. I'm more excited about making a super cinny, or black pastel cinnamon, or super black pastel. So want the all dark snake. *grins*
Our Mojave male is ready to breed, but our girls are not ready yet. Getting there... One of my normal females has finally reached 1000g *bounces.* We plan on breeding the normal girls to our Mojave or Cinnamon and holding back at least one female Mojave for future breeding.
