yawning

i just got my baby bp on saturday and i have seen her "yawning" about 5 or 6 times. what is she doing? i know that sometimes they will yawn after eating to pop their jaw back into place, but i havent fed her yet (i'm trying to give her a week to settle in before handling or feeding). it seems like i also heard somewhere that they might yawn when they are hungry. is this true? and if so should i go ahead and try to feed her even though i have only had her for 3 days?

No, no. It doesn't mean anything but that she's re-adjusting her jaw. It's normal and cute and nothing to sweat over.

it could also mean they are tired too right? many other animals yawn when tired, and when mine first wake up, or are woken at some point in the day, they tend to yamn more as they cruise around. very shortly after they crash out again. it is very cute.

ah, ok thanks. i'm going through the "i'm a new bp owner and i'm worried about every little thing" stage right now. :D

Its so cool when they yawn, i have to get a pic of mine. One time he yawned when i was holding him and almost closed his mouth on my hand, it was kinda scary,but cool :)

Amy yawns all the time! and yeah its so cute when they do it.

I only caught mine yawning once, it was so cute.
I kept looking at her for ten minutes straight expecting another yawn lol.

the first time i saw mine yawn i couldnt believe how big her mouth was. :shock: like they can practically open their mouths so far that their upper and lower jaws are straight up and down. i guess you have to be pretty flexible to eat something three times as big as your head though.

Not to worry, I'm a new proud BP owner too, I was kinda shocked when I first saw Buddy yawn...and it is really kinda cool.

As i sit here with rocky he just let out a GIANT yawn. Now he is going down my shirt after he explored the top of my head. Great fun

it is totally amazing! and i can't wait to see her eat for the first time--especially if she actually does eat the first time i offer her food!
