    Convincing my Mom
I think its 36",18",18" (LWH). Will that suit 1 BP? If not I can go the Rubbermaid Container way.

How old is it? If it's a baby, that might be a bit big.

nah, that sounds perfect bro. just keep in mind the drawbacks of tank housing... like humidity for one. good luck with it all, let us know how it turns out.

Guess I was wrong....sorry 'bout that! I switched to the sterilite type housing, so far it's been easier to maintain as far as temps and humidity. Haven't used the DIY humidifier once since the switch.

well, I have a 10 gal, 30 gal, and a 55. Im going to use the 55 for my beardie. I guess to start out ill put the BP in the 10 gal. I dont have a BP yet. Im not sure how to pop the question to my mom, lol. Most likely for humidity ill put a bowl of water underneith the heat lamp so that way some water evaporates. I cant wait to get one. Im just afraid that my mom will say no. BUT BACK TO THE QUESTION, will that take be ok for a full grown BP?

a 55 gallon would be more suitable, but the 30 gallon would work until you could afford a larger tank. i think 40 gallons are perfect for adult bp's if you like housing in tanks. i wouldnt use a 10 gallon for even a hatchling bp man, they blow. hard to keep the temps and humidity accurate, not to mention are easily escaped from. most 10 gallon tanks these days are made really cheap. use the 30, it'll work fine. as long as you supply an ample amount of hiding areas for your bp the size of the tank shouldn't matter as far as being too big is concerned.

ok, im planning on using some vines that my mom got. there fake flower vines. I also have logs and stones. Ill cut up a plastic container so that way a BP will have a hiding place. I have a big question. HEATING?!? I wanted to just use regular house bulbs during the day and maybe a Black bulb at night. Will that be fine? Im tryin to stay away from heat pads (Craking the tanks glass) and hot rocks. SUBSTRATE- reptile carpet for me. HUMIDITY- like I said, ill put water underneith the light and also do a misting in the mornin before school. I was wondering still how much does an average BP weigh? No one has answered my question yet. I need to know so that way I can get the money when I ship the BP back and fwarth.

Bp's need uvb or uva lights... For a kinda more natural light. and nutrients like d3 and calcium. form the light. Or they will die without it. and also they need a dark light forgot what they specifically are named. a dark light that also provides uvb. but a lower wattage.

BP's don't need any light. They're nocturnal. All they need for heat is a UTH for belly heat to properly digest their meals. Don't worry about glass cracking from the heat. You should put a small space between the UTH and the bottom of the tank just enough for air to flow between and evenly distribute the heat.

Infected, please be carefull in what you say. A ball python in absolutely no way will ever expire due to no uv rays. They are a nocturnal animal, and many keeprs do not even use lights with them. And also please note that "dark" lights do not give off uvb. Please read up on UV lighting.

    That was witty lol.

Anyways, I myself am using an infared 60W in my ten gallon ... it keeps the basking spot at about 92-94 ... and cool side at about 80s ... mid 80s ... humidity is a problem with glass tanks .. you'll probably have to either cover a majority of the mesh top with duct tape or a damp towel.

Forget the glass tank. Im gettin a rubbermaid tub. lol. For the UTH heater do it put it inside the rubbermaid or underneith it. I think it goes underneith the rubbermaid. I've heard that they need 12 cycle or light then 12 without. Do I just shine a light at the rubbermaid so it kinda lights up or what?

Underneath only. Unless you're planning to breed a regimented light-cycle is not required (just let it be dark at night and thats good enough) - and as far as light goes indirect/ambient light is fine since you don't need to worry about UVA/B requirements - they have none. I've actually toyed with the idea of lighting our future rack via LED to draw less elec.
