Your first snake bite?
Well, I officially got my first snake bite today! My female ball python, Manda bit me today (don't blame her, I had to push her feeding back two days this week and I had just put her meal into the feeding cage so she struck). Quick little nip on the middle finger. I jerked my hand away and she fell and I was more worried about her falling (18" or so drop). I kind of expected it, when I opened her cage she was in a strike position. I have been dreading the first bite now for ages! I don't do well with pain so I've been concerned, needless to say, I almost felt relieved to see it only hurt that bad. (I donate blood pretty regularly and so it felt just like the iron test). I began to wonder what your guys' first bite was? Where was it? Who did it? Did it catch you off gaurd? Was it a strike or a feed bite? Was it better or worse than you were expecting?

My first bite was when I was 12 from a Bearded Dragon...Since then I have been bit by a king and corn snake. My childrens python bites me everytime I hold it. The only snake I own that hasn't bit me yet is my Ball. My wife's first bite was by a Rosy Boa at LLL when she was holding one for the first time. It struck her once then latched on and wrapped for about 15 minutes. None of them were as bad as we expected, however they all caught us off guard, except for the childrens, we just expect that. As far as the rosy that bit my wife she said the squeeze started to hurt about 10 minutes in because it had her fingers as well as her palm wrapped.

The first snake bite I got was a Ball Python! I didn't even know he got me at first, until I started bleeding a little. It was nothing and I picked the snake up again a few minutes later. Most of my bites have been young Ball Pythons. I've gotten tagged by a Boa (my worst), a small Burm and a couple of corns. Never been wrapped, though - I'm interested to see how that feels, actually!
No matter how many bites I get, I always jump. I know it doesn't hurt - but I can't help but be intimidated. xD

Technically my first snake bite was a little rat snake I caught in my bac yard when I was about 12yrs old, but that was more like a bug bite than anything. My first real bite was from a boa that was about 3-4ft long. I was at Petco and there were people there from a reptile rescue, asked me if I wanted to hold the boa I said sure and boom afew minutes later he was stuck to my arm. I don't blame the boa tho I'm sure he was a bit stressed out from all the people.

Re: Your first snake bite?
First bite was when I was 18 from a ball pyhton. It was a food bite and she got me firmly between the thumb and pointer finger and wrapped herself around my hand/arm. I just stood there like... dang, NOW what? I got her off and put her up and she ate the mouse she mistook my hand for.
Haven't made that mistake again. I still get bit, lol, just haven't been food bit again. I usually use feeding tongs now.
My dachshund would like to add that he received his first bite last year, right on the nose, and that he would have killed that snake if it hadn't been 20 feet long with two heads and 10 friends (...it was a foot-long rat snake, and he sulked for a week!)

My first bite was probably the first snake I came in contact with hard to tell they all try to get a chunk of me
I am a bite magnet, I can walk in a room where people hold snakes or sit next to a person holding a snake and the snake will literally launch at me :O (I have witness)
It comes down to one thing, my outside body temp is slightly higher then most people making me a target.....at least my friends get a good laugh out of it.
But yeah if there is a snake and it's not mine it will try.

My first bite from a snake was from my boa when she was two feet long. Didn't hurt at all, but she wrapped, figured out I wasn't food, but twisted when she let go and a tooth got stuck in my wrist. It got infected and that hurt a lot. But I hardly felt the bite itself. Now I make sure to check very thoroughly for teeth. When she bit me again at five feet, she caught my thumb on the knuckle, and wrapped around my wrist, and that hurt terribly. She didn't want to let go for a few minutes, and all the blood was going into my hand making my hand throb. When she let go it bled like crazy. It hurt a lot for quite a while, and was bruised for about a week. But it healed much faster and was much cleaner with no teeth in my hand! I don't think it would have hurt if she hit anywhere that was more flesh, and not my knuckle.

My first was my Iguana I had for over 10yrs, I think she was just in a bad mood and didn't want to be bothered, a few small drops of blood on my hand and that was all, I was more startled than anything else. Never been bit by my Ball or bearded dragon... yet...

You're lucky, iguanas can destroy you if they have half a mind. The first bite I remember was when I snatched up a hatchling gray rat snake outside a movie theater. I must have been 6-7 years old at the time. How do I know I'm a herper? I remember everything about the encounter with the snake yet if you asked me the title of the movie, I'd draw a blank.

Re: Your first snake bite?
My first reptile bite was from a baby snake. I'd caught it around the house and he bit me, held on for a tidy amount of time, saw I wasn't letting him go so he tried to play dead. I did let him go after we got far enough away from the house.
Second reptile bite was from an adult male iguana. Nasty temperament he had.

Re: Your first snake bite?
First of all, congrats on joining the bite club.
My first bit was also pretty recent. A tiny female Lesser tagged me (the hand that was holding her not my free hand) at a reptile expo (CRBE). She is still a very defensive little girl but, warming up steadily as she becomes more confident that I intend her no harm.
Yes, I was examining her as a potential purchase since I really liked her colours above the other female Lessers there and once she bit me that sealed the deal I bought her on the spot.
It wasa total defensive strike and it hurt even less than a finger prick.

Re: Your first snake bite?
My first bite was from a garter snake when I was about 7. At that time I thought all snakes were poisonous and I was going to die, so I went screaming to my parents. When I found out what it was and that I wasn't going to die, and best of all, realized it doesn't hurt when they bite, I was hooked on snakes and tried to collect em all!

My first bite was from my female mojave. When I first got her as a hatchling, I was trying to take her out of the snake bag. She was biting me like crazy in the process.
She's outgrown biting out of defense, but lets just say she has an extremely strong feeding response.

I was holding a 150g fire ball python at a reptile show. I turned my head to look at something behind me and felt something on my hand. I turned back around thinking I bumped into a display and saw blood on my thumb. The fire struck a few more times before jumping into a ball at warp speed.
I mentioned that he bit me, the vendor apologized. I decided to buy him.
The vendor remembered me at the next show four months later. I was happy to tell him that the bitey 150g boy was now 650g, much friendlier, and eats everything possible.
It didn't hurt.

Your first snake bite?
The breeder I have gotten most of my snakes from was showing me their collection and basically let me into the tubs.
Opened a tub to a big breeder lemon blast girl and just stuck my hand right in. Bad idea.
They felt terrible but I was so excited to finally get bit lol

My first snake bite was from my female normal when I was about thirteen but the first bite I got that actually hurt was from an ETB juvie owned by an acquaintance a couple years later. That one really sucked and not going to lie, it's kind of put me off of ETBs ever since. ^^;

My first snake was a Honduran Milk Snake and that thing bit me anytime I went near it. After that I had a few corns, and a ball that were all very tame and never bit. Now I have a Champagne Pastel hatchling and he likes to strike. I have a pair of leather garden gloves I wear to handle him. Like others have said, I know it doesn't hurt, yet without the glove I find myself hesitant which doesn't help the situation. Hes a great snake, just a little defensive still I suspect. Sure hope he isn't aggressive forever!

still haven't been bit by a ball. i've had plenty of strikes from younger ones, but so far they've failed to land one. my retic was the first one to get me. i was surprised when it didnt hurt at all. it was just a kind of "really dude?" moment. lol http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/10/21/vaze2a8y.jpg

my first snake bite was last year; i was handling a rosy boa for a presentation and when i looked down, he had his mouth wide open and promptly latched onto my thumb knuckle. it didn't hurt at all, really, but it caught me off guard and i yelped and jerked slightly. he managed to break the skin and draw a bit of blood, though!

My first bite was from a brain fart I had while feeding my (then) food aggressive, and first BP. Needless to say, I would still rather been bit like that instead of the several times my snakes have pooped on me.
