Is Any City More Cursed With Pro Sports Than Atlanta?
So, not that I care about baseball, the Braves choked, again, in the baseball playoffs.

The Hawks haven't even ever been to the NBA finals before.

The don't even have a hockey team.

And now the Falcons, whom I have remained a loyal fan of through good and bad seasons, whom were touted by many to go to the Super Bowl this year after several years of success, have come crashing down in a burning blaze of misfortune and mismanagement.

Woe is the Atlanta sports teams.

I grew up in Atlanta. It has been a long long run of losers. I was an Atlanta Flames fan (hockey team), even in the fan club. That gives you an idea how long ago that was. I started turning against the Falcons when Glanville became the coach and changed the colors to black. Never much watched the Hawks.

I understand some of your thing but I think it's far better to be bad all the time than to repeatedly get to the cusp of greatness only to stumble and collapse.

IMO, changing the color to black was the only good thing Glanville did. I hate those old uniforms.

I'm a boston everything fan. We had our run of bad luck as everybody knows. And I can tell you.. It happens. Living in georgia I have to hear all about braves this bulldogs that rise up blah blah blah. Just glad these people are finally realizing Matt Ryan is horribly overrated. Last year was a fluke they are absolutely horrible. And yes I agree atlanta sports got absolutely bum rushed Monday night lol

I agree with the change to black mentioned in this history of the uniform. My main reason for leaving the fan base was the hiring of Glanville (who I thought was a coach who was known to ride the edge of the rules and frequently crossed them) and that I no longer lived near Atlanta. It is sad to see. But, there is always next year! :D

Their O-line is good. I've been talking up joe haden for a while and it seems just now hes FINALLY getting some credit he deserves!

Brian hoyer sadly got injured but i'm a fan of him as well. He played backup for awhile for one of the best qb's in the nfl.... ;)

    X2

The Toronto Maple Laughs have not won the cup in our unofficial national sport since 1967, longer than most members here have been alive.
The Toronto Raptors are the NBA's little brother that just tags along without actually being part of the group.
The Toronto Bluejays.... well they did have a few good years but, really haven't shone since the strike.
And, finally Toronto FC and the extinct (atleast I think they are) Toronto Blizzard we just don't talk about ever since a Grade 5 school league team beat them like they were owed money.

Edit I forgot about their football team but, I don't feel bad about it because if the Argonauts are mentionned anywhere everyone assumes you are discussing Greek mythology instead of sports.

Gonna have to do disagree with that. Matt Ryan is Elite. Our biggest problem is the O-line. If Atlanta had either the Patriots or the Broncos O-line, we'd be on the flip side. Manning is ripping people apart with weapons that are on par with Atlanta. Brady is just managing to win with street people wearing name tags (which when you think about that, is even a bigger feat IMO, and that's coming from a guy that hates the Patriots and Brady specifically). If either of them had Atlanta's O-line they would not be doing as good I am sure. It was a gamble to let the veterans go. They gambled on young inexperienced lineman and they lost. So the horrible O-line (and mismanagement thereof) and the most injuries to starters to ever befall a team in history ever are the reason Atlanta is sucking.

Charlotte. The Bobcats have had the worst season in the history of the NBA (not last year, but the year before) and the Panthers haven't been to the playoffs in... I'm not sure how long...

In what universe is Matt Ryan elite? If by elite you mean the short stent like Eli manning where he had two good years because everybody around him was awesome then yes sure he WAS elite.. last year. And now look everybody left and he is exposed for what he really is. Average. This year he is struggling. An elite quarter back makes something from nothing even when the times are bad. You honestly think Tom Brady would be 1-4 if he had half the weapons Matt Ryan does? No way. Heck even now he has 1/10 the weapons Matt Ryan does and they are still 4-1.. Peyton manning made the broncos elite. When he left they had nothing. They sucked. Andrew luck came. And he proved himself elite. No way would I call our o-line elite either. It's good but not exponentially better than the falcon's

Unfortunately, it will be the same players and the same owner. I really doubt a different name makes them play any better.:(

And so were the Indians or the Cavs until the playoffs. These guys, for years and years, has always been putting fans hopes up only to give it a crushing blow.

When LeBron was with the Cavs, you don't ever ask him to break your dollar because he won't give you the last quarter.

My very first time watching a football game was at the old Brown's stadium in winter 1992/93 season. Browns versus Oilers. Yes the old Browns that are now the Ravens. It was well below freezing temps and the wind blowing off Lake Erie could chop your nose off. Fans had their shirt off showing bodies painted in Browns colors. Die hard fans screaming at the top of their lungs. Browns led by 3 touchdowns until the last 5 minutes of the 4th quarter... And the Oilers win the game.

    That's Cleveland.

I'd easily put Seattle or 49ers before Atlanta. Hell, even the Saints and I hate New Orleans and I'm from Louisiana. The Braves may of had the better record but the Dodgers have more experience.

Re: Is Any City More Cursed With Pro Sports Than Atlanta?
Seriously? The 49ers have wonmultiple Super Bowls and at one point had the greatest QB and WR of all time on their team. And the Saints, except for last year, have been dominant with Drew Brees and have won a Super Bowl.

And the people saying Matt isn't Elite need to back that up. The stats say otherwise. Even with everything happening he is still in the top 10 of every meaningful QB stat.

    • 8th in NFL in TD (10)
    • 4th in NFL in CMP% (69.3)
    • 7th in NFL in YDS (1,649)
    • 6th in NFL in RAT (100.9)

I don't play the "blame the QB for everything" game. You gotta judge the player what they do and not what their team does. That's why Barry Sanders is considered the best RB ever even though the Detroit Lions never did anything meaningful while he was playing. And why Dan Marino is a Hall of Famer even though he never won a Super Bowl.

If Matt Ryan was having his own personal melt down like Shaub in Texas then I would have a different opinion. But he's not. He's playing well despite the collapse of the offense around him. And now he's about to have a couple of street people he'll be throwing to. Let's see what happens.

Stats are cute, playoff wins and super bowls are cuter though.

Matt ryan has julio jones, roddy white and tony gonzalez. Steven jackson is also a great RB. How are they NOT winning? How is he NOT taking them to the playoffs every year? Don't try and say he doesn't have the weapons to lol. All they have to do is fight off the saints for the division... The pats have a bunch of no-names and rookies on their team and they have a better record lol. And they fought off the SAINTS last nite with their no-name players and rookies. If matt ryan was elite he would be winning games right now, he has the weapons to, just like manning does. Brady doesn't have the weapons and he's doing it...

Barry sanders isnt the best running back ever, far from it imo. He was good, don't get me wrong, but all that dancing around also earned him another fancy stat: most negative rushing yards. Maybe if he had won a SB or two it would negate that fact though...

They're talking about bringing the Raiders to Oklahoma. I mean, after what we did for first the Hornets and now the Thunder, I think we deserve an NFL team.

I really wish the Colorado Avalanche would leave colorado for OK as well, then throw in the Braves (the only I care about when it comes to baseball).

I mean, we created a legitimate contender for the NBA title two years in a row. Why not a football team? Professional hockey? MLB team?

    Oklahoma > Atlanta.

Apparently you didn't read my other posts. Matt Ryan has a piss poor O-line and injury after injury to his weapons. And having a paper thin defense due to injuries on that side isn't helping either.

Roddy white has played in atlanta for what, 5 years now? At least 5 years. Tony and julio both got there like 2 years ago. Before jackson they had michael turner. Before gonzalez he had alge crumpler. Was their o-line bad all those years too? Their defense injury riddled all those years too?

Matt ryan isn't elite. The falcons will not win a super bowl with matt ryan. I'm calling that like i called sanchez not being an elite QB even though everyone and their brother told me he was gunna be lol.

EDIT: and tell me more of injuries to your weapons while i'll cry over gronk, vereen and amendola lol
