There are a bunch in upstate. Alot of them have communities on facebook you can belong to that you can join and check out.

A big one is Corning Reptiles that have herpers, feed and all that jazz.

Many people sell tanks and supplies and such

This is from the bylaws of NYC DEP :

    (10) Reptiles (Reptilia). All Helodermatidae (gila monster and Mexican beaded lizard); allfront-fanged venomous snakes, even if devenomized, including, but not limited to, all Viperidae (viper, pit viper), all Elapidae (cobra, mamba, krait, coral snake), all
Atractaspididae (African burrowing asp), all Hydrophiidae (sea snake), all Laticaudidae
(sea krait); all venomous, mid-or rear-fanged, Duvernoy-glanded members of the family
Colubridae, even if devenomized; any member, or hybrid offspring of the family Boidae,
including, but not limited to, the common or green anaconda and yellow anaconda; any
member of the family Pythonidae, including but not limited to the African rock python,
Indian or Burmese python, Amethystine or scrub python; any member of the family
Varanidae, including the white throated monitor, Bosc's or African savannah monitor,
Komodo monitor or dragon, Nile monitor, crocodile monitor, water monitor, Bornean
earless monitor; any member of the family Iguanidae, including the green or common
iguana; any member of the family Teiidae, including, but not limited to the golden,
common, or black and white tegu; all members of the family Chelydridae, including
snapping turtle and alligator snapping turtle; and all members of the order Crocodylia,
including, but not limited to alligator, caiman and crocodile

That being said if you go to any reptile expo in NY like White Plains or the Hudson Valley reptile expo most snakes are still available...just not the big constrictors. Some breeders that go to the white plains expo are based out of brooklyn and such, so I doubt balls are really included in the ban in the city unless your walking down the street with one around your neck.

But to get to your question NY has a few breeders but not any one that has enough of a variety. like suggested above I would go to the White Plains Expo (www.reptileexpo.com) Alot of big name breeders attend like NERD and so do smaller breeders in the state. Also depending on where you are whether upstate or downstate I think the hudson valley expo now is adding a spot in Troy NY that website is www.herpnerds.com

That's because New York City limit laws http://www.nyc.gov/html/doh/download...healthcode.pdf and New York State laws are different.

    NYC Health Code
    Quote:

    (a) No person shall sell or give to another person, possess, harbor or keep wild animals
    identified in subsection (b)

any member, or hybrid offspring of the family Boidae,
including, but not limited to, the common or green anaconda and yellow anaconda; any
    member of the family Pythonidae
, including but not limited to the African rock python,
Indian or Burmese python, Amethystine or scrub python; any member of the family
Varanidae, including the white throated monitor, Bosc's or African savannah monitor,
Komodo monitor or dragon, Nile monitor, crocodile monitor, water monitor, Bornean
earless monitor; any member of the family Iguanidae, including the green or common
iguana; any member of the family Teiidae, including, but not limited to the golden,
common, or black and white tegu; all members of the family Chelydridae, including
snapping turtle and alligator snapping turtle; and all members of the order Crocodylia,
including, but not limited to alligator, caiman and crocodile.
Obviously people need to be knowledgeable about their state laws, county/city ordinances.

I will also add this, while it is legal to purchase constrictors in NY STATE it is still unlawful to possess them if you live in NY CITY LIMIT and that is what is important.

NY tries to knock you for everything. Every county around needs you to have a permit to own a herp.
They dont enforce it and most shops wont tell you.
some places post a county notice about it but still its pretty silly.

The White Plains show and Long Island show are held outside of NYC limits, so are not subject to NYC regulations. A lot of boa and ball python vendors there operate out of the five boroughs though, so I dunno... You'll definitely never find retics and burms and that kind of thing though.

It's still NY,but is put of the 5 boroughs, but that doesn't mean it's not NY.. I see people walk around with them freely and often,so idk. I guess if your walking around the streets with a 10 foot python u can get your chops busted,lol..but as for knowing the laws in my state, please,I lived here my whole life and well NY is full of crap. I don't thnk my homes getting raided cause I have 2 ball pythons....

I've seen this debated now several times. The DEP law that keeps getting brought up does in fact make it illegal to own BP's. However it is a DEP law and if you live in the city you realize that there is not one LEO that is going to show up and enforce it. They wouldn't know about it and honestly unless your housing thousands of animals and tick off your neighbors there is next to no chance your going to hear anything from DEP. Just a humble piece of advice from someone who knows NYC quite well.

Follow the laws....they are made up to protect and help you citizen!

They are for your safety and there are plenty of people here to ensure that its flashed in your face for not knowing some rich old white guy's idea of a perfect social world.

While your corrupt lawmakers do as they wish.....be sure to "pay" your taxes and don't purchase items with your money that some privilaged stranger says you can't.

There were once laws against woman and people of color or non english speaking.
Laws against native North Americans and what you may eat drink or smoke.

Go on how "the law is a law"

What does age and skin color have to do with anything being discussed here?
