I've been searching for a normal female for close to a month to start of my breeding venture. I have a male of breeding size/age and would like to find a female of the same nature. I don't want any of the het craze or claiming to be morphs...just the natural true form. I Won't spend $100 on one either, which is why I haven't bought anything yet. I've found one in my price range but I think he has already sold it.

Finding an adult is going to be hard. I have been looking for one for a long time. The only think I can suggest is to get a juvenile and wait. Adult females at breeding weight can range from $200-$600. And you can get a CBB juvenile for about $90 Shipped. I would try www.bobclark.com email him and ask if he has any older females for sale.

thanks for the tips guys. I do have another male who is close to 2 yrs I think and really starting to grow and has so far kept his nice bright color, so I could find the mate for him, and then waiting wouldn't be all that dissapointing. I haven't had much luck with mail order animals, I like to buy direct from the breeder at shows if possible but I will check out the links above.

Besides. If you do happen to find a mature adult female 9 times out of 10 its imported and has tons of problems. Not to mention that its still wild.

I say buy a hatchling and raise it up yourself. It will benefit your breeding projects in the long run, IMHO.

That's what i will probably end up doing. I have a guy lined up who wants to sell me two 04's but in talking with him he has an 03 he will sell me. He is offering me one '04 and one '03 for $135 shipped. So I'm debating on that or waiting a couple weeks and trying the Michigan reptile show again...it was a big dissapoitment as far as BP's last month, and no where near the number of breeders as the Columbus, OH shows I usually go to...but it was closer to home so I had to try it. If I buy from this guy i'll probably resell the '04 unless it really grabs me.

In further talks with the breeder mentioned above, and finding out about his outstanding credentials I have ordered from him. I will have two females tomorrow morning being delivered to the stable my wife manages. I'm soooo excited, I got their tubs all setup tonight and will be itching to get out of work tomorrow!

thanks for looking out, that is a bit high for my range. I payed $135 for the two females I got...including shipping. Granted they are an 04 and 03 but thats ok, time to get more personal with them and raise them. My wife has them at work and called me, reporting that 04 had some pretty nice coloration. I'll have to get some pics up all my snakes now!

Well I got home to check out the "new girls" and they are awesome! The 04 hatchling seems so tiny compared to what I'm used to  She has some really sweet color on her and the pattern is so cool, the white flows up into her sides with the pattern and really stands out....*re-thinking the whole "I"ll just resell the 04 idea". The 03 is a nice looking girl to, I didn't handle her to much as she was showing alot more signs of stress, striking at me twice but not hitting. I was going to take some pice but I think I will wait untill after my national guard training this weekend and take some sunday evening or early this week depending on how they are acting.

Now that my feeder rodent population is starting to take off again hopefully you are right about breeding next year. My aim is for next fall/winter which is what it sounds like most people are doing. It will depend on the size/maturaty of the snakes.

    woot!
