Corn Snake or California King Snake first?
I have decided that in the next reptile expo (November 25 Teneck,NJ) I intend I will get a another snake. I have two choices (said in title). I know a good amount about both of them. But, I can't decide which to get first (I plan in April or may to get another). If you say Corn Snake or Cal King snake. Please tell me what morph should I get and some info about the snake just in case I missed something while doing research.

I just got a snow motley corn. She is beautiful and the pic doesnt do her justice. Not much to tell about corn husbandry that you havent already read. Heres a pic of the one I got today this is corn#3 for mehttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/10/02/8avymagy.jpg

I say a king snake though I probably wouldn't get a Cali king if it were me(purely my preference).

I'd get one of wilomns ink drops. Not crazy about colubrids but he has some bad ass ones. I like kings more than corns

I've had both and while I love my corns, I find kings more interesting to keep. My kings come out and watch everything I do and seem to actually beg for food. I do really like Wilomn's ink drop Calkings. My favorite Calkings are my aberrant Coastals. The are chocolate brown and bright yellow. I, also, love the hypo and ghost Brooks kings I picked up this year. Here's a so-so pic of my female Coastal Calking that started my obsession:

I agree with Mike, Wilomn has awesome looking inkdrop kings and you should go that route.

    X3

Also not a fan of colubrids, but Wes' kings made me want to get into them. :)

I vote corn over king, but I adore my Cali Kings. Reason for me voting corn is that in my experience they are more laid back and won't musk like my kings do. Both are great eaters and very forgiving when it comes to husbandry so I guess it depends on what catches your eye more.

I voted corn snake, but I think it depends. As a first snake and a snake for a child, a corn snake has been perfect for us. All of my kids have a corn snake, and they are a great fit. I also enjoy them and the beautiful morphs we have. However, I have 2 Cal kings, and they are mine. I enjoy their attitudes when taking them out (just tail rattlings and mock striking so far) but they are very chill once in my hands. I could do without the musking ... but they are still young.

When I got my first snake I was SET on a milk snake. I read a bit more into their temperments and whatnot, but what really got me was just their size. I'd rather have a larger snake than a smaller one... no real reason why :P just easier to hold on to I guess.
Corns have SO many morphs and colours (as do milk snakes), but king snakes I don't find as asthetically pleasing in the end. Also, for where I am, corns were more available from breeders I found.
There is a fantastic forum if you'd like to learn a bit more about corns and the community!

Good luck with whatever decision you make! Either way it'll be great :) and you'll have to post photos

If you're interested in milk snakes but like a bit of size there are still some options. Here's a link for your viewing pleasure with a few such animals:
