    New childrens python pickup!!!
So I got home on Friday from a successful business trip to Ireland and decided to reward myself with this lil guy that I just picked up an hour ago! His personality is soo cool...dare I say he is already moving up the ranks to my favorite! My wife says now I need to find him a little girlfriend! Sounds good to me!

He is so cool...even at his small size he is not timid at all. I take him out to hold him and he never wants to go back in his enclosure. Doesn't use his hide at all is constantly cruzing around, and he "perches and wraps" around my fingers so its like having a little ring. He already even has the little rainbow sheen to him in the sun.

He is very tiny, but his personality isn't :) He's soo cool. Every baby snake Ive had this small has been timid. This guy definately isnt.

I wasn't sure if my wife would be on board with getting two, but she has already decided we need to go pick up a female for him. So looks like I will be getting one more within the next few paychecks.

Awesome little pickup, I always feel like antaresia are under appreciated.

Babies are definitely full of personality and come out of the egg mouth wide open ready to bite (I've actually had them still in the egg, just pipped, and sit there mouth open ready to bit if I get close enough...it's hilarious at that size). Babies usually open up at both ends, they'll bite you and crap on you at the same time, when you start out smaller than a worm you're food for everything and have to prove how tough you are and fight dirty if needed...lol. I believe also with them that handling isn't as important in calming them down, as just them finally growing and getting a little size to them. I'm not saying don't hold it, I'm just saying that if it seems like it's not helping to calm it down, don't get frustrated and think it's always going to have an attitude, it probably just hasn't grown enough yet...and at this size when they bite it's more comical than anything. :)

    Enjoy!

It is pretty funny when they bite...he does calm down after the first few strikes...now its just trying to get him to eat...with him being that small I worry about him skipping two many meals. His last meal was a day old pinky 8 days ago

I picked up one of these guys not long ago and couldn't be happier with the little fella. I love giving him a pinky and watching him go nuts constricting it like a big python would. Antaresia are definitely underrated!

pretty much just like i said he would be. i'm glad you pulled the trigger on him. they are such cool snakes. its amazing how brave they are at such a small size. i knew i wanted mine from the first time i held a hatchling and it bit and wrapped my finger and gave everything it had trying to kill me. i was in love.

have you tried to feed him yet? they seem to have a pretty aggressive eating response. mine would try to eat a mini-van if i tossed one in his cage. he did skip his first meal ever last night but he is deep in blue and going to shed any day now. he tried to find the mouse but was just bumping in to stuff and gave up.

I tried to feed F/T Tuesday and yesterday. He wasn't interested at all. I even grabbed the pinky with my tongs and dangled it in front of his face and he bumped it and moved away, so then I left it in his container for an hour and nothing. Not scared by it, but just not interested. Should I try live?

i started mine on live. he never refused. somtimes i would drop it in and it wouldnt hit the ground. he would snatch it right out of the air. i just got him converted to frozen/thawed. hes taken that the last 3 times. i would try live for sure and see what happens.

I will go pick up a live pinky after work and keep you posted on if he takes it.

Live may make a difference, I had several hatchlings this year that when sold would still not take f/t, not all of them do. As they get to be older they usually become less picky about feeding and my adults will take whatever kind of rodent I feel like giving them.

We have SUCCESS!!!! He took a F/T tonight!!!! Zero aggression. I was dancing it in front of him and he wanted nothing to do with it. It slipped out of my little tongs and he crawled up to it and just slowly went for the head. He didn't even lunge at it.
