"Pit bull" is the common name for the "American Staffordshire Terrier" Cute dog though

Re: Bully pit...
Looks nothing like a Staffy. He looks like a Bully, which is what the title says.
Many different dogs unfortunately fall under the common name 'pitbull'. Am bullies, staffies, and true American Pit Bull Terriers fall under the same name, which is unfortunate since they're not the same breed.
Very cute pup. I'm not too partial to bullies, but yours looks nice. Very nice markings and its nice to see structurally sound bullies out there.

Time to open class and no time for quotes.
"pit bull" is a blanket term for short hair and muscular (according to the media) BUT it is actually just a bully breed blanket and shortened from American Pitbull Terrier.
You also have American Staffordshire, Staffordshire, and one that I am on the fence about is the American Bully.
I can tell from the head and jaw set that it is a bully breed but without a standing shot you cannot tell if its a Staff or APBT as the major difference is size. Unless you have the paperwork behind them too.
I doubt that that is a staffy because everyone wants to throw and claim Gotti blood. I personally love my Colby dogs but their game is super strong.
I could go on for hours but either way he is a good looking boy. :gj::gj:

Re: Bully pit...
Cute dog either way.

The reason I guessed Staffordshire Terroir is because I've owned several Pits, and Staffordshires. Staffordshires are generally shorter and stocky. Just my opinion. It doesn't matter either way. Good looking dog :)

my favorite types of dogs are staffordshires and APBTs

Pretty good comparison between APBT(far left column) & Staffs, minus AmBullies.

Pit Bull is not a catch all term, its a shortened form of a dog name referring to one specific breed, the American Pit Bull Terrier.
Pit Bull doesnt refer to any other breed REGARDLESS of what the internet or media says. Thats like calling a Malinois a German Shepherd.. they are both shepherds... but two completely different breeds.
This dog looks like an AmBully which is often called a "blue pit" or some other byb term. He doesnt have very many Staffordshire Bull Terrier characteristics at all, and appears too short and stocky to be an AmStaff, but the only way to really know if he is anything other than a generic blue bully breed mix is to look at his lineage, which would require a pedigree so I could look at the dogs behind this dog and say the true breed WHICH often times is different than what the registry says it is due to paper hanging and the AmBully being a new breed and just recently being accepted in the UKC.
For an AmBully looking dog he is VERY cute and nicely put together.

If you are interested in learning more about your dog or if you have a pedigree to post I would be more than happy to help. We own APBTs here and have a blue mutt of unknown lineage as well.
Here is something to go over, it helps show some visuals on what APBTs, ASTs, SBTs, BTs, ABs and AmBullies look like as well as mutts and mixes
