Get really excited when they notice 3 of their snakes are in shed on feed day, and you will be saving 3 frozen mice/rats because you're not going to feed them? I know I do.

LOL my rat bill is $150 dollars a month right now and that's buying at bulk pricing.. I never get excited knowing they're not going to eat. The only thing I am semi relieved to not feed is ASF and that's because they are hard to get, and much more expensive. Eventually I hope to not need ASF... ever.

I don't get excited mainly because I look forward to feeding them. I buy a few months worth of rats at a time so I'm never that excited about saving them.

wow really? at bulk pricing I spend about $165 a month and that's also factoring the shipping cost (I buy 6 months bulk, so I divide the shipping cost by 6 to get a per month number). And this is for 16 snakes.

edit: I thought you only had 6 snakes haha my bad when I looked again I realized there was many more!

LOL I buy in bulk but I get free delivery for 18 snakes - that's probably where the dependency is in prices lol

With a combination of rodentpro, a local breeder when rodentpro isnt running a sale, and petco for live rats, I spend $60 a month for eight snakes.

You guys need a rat rack. I spend around 30 per month feeding and bedding rats that feed 10 snakes and last year I sold about 400 extras!

If only I didn't live in a tiny apartment. The rustling noise would kill me.

I order from rodentpro and the sales help immensely so I try to buy when there's a big one going on.
I would save lots by breeding my own but got shut down by my gf on that idea lol

I thought about it but I don't have the heart to kill them myself. I'm ok buying them already dead and frozen lol.

I don't get excited, but only because all of mine seem to poop when they shed, and one poop at a time smells bad enough let alone 3 together.

We spend about $35 a month to feed our 23 snakes. That includes feeding and bedding two and a half colonies of ASFs, plus the rats n mice we get.

WOW...$150, $165, over $200....I spend about $100 a month for 15 snakes. And that's just for the feed. Dang come to think about it, I may spend close to $150 after you add in the bedding and stuff. I need to stop breeding Rats and just buy F/T. Looks a lot easier than having to clean out bedding, but then again I know whats in my rats and their health! So how do you do it only spending $30 a month for 10 snakes?

Ok...lemme break it down...but our situation is different, im sure, from everybody elses.
First, for the ASFs, we buy bales of pine for bedding from tractor supply for $5. One bale lasts a month. Then, we buy a 50lb bag of Mazuri 9f for $27.39. It lasts 8 months.
For mice, i get them from work for 80 cents, cuz i work there. And for rats, we help our buddy clean his rat racks once a week, and in exchange he lets us have all the rats we need.
