iPhone 5S or Samsung Galaxy S4?
What is better, and why?
iPhone 5S or Samsung Galaxy S4

My personal opinion is the S4. I am not a fan of apple or IOS, I think they are incredibly overpriced for what you get. I dont like the fact that everything has to be done through Itunes or that everytime you need an upgrade you have to hook it up to the computer. I think the S4 has a lot more capability for customization to your exact needs. That being said I know apple fans will hound me on this one.

Re: iPhone 5S or Samsung Galaxy S4?
I voted for the IPhone , but only because I have had IPhones forever and love them, I have not had problems (other than getting sand in the charging slot, my fault), I find them easy to use , especially since I am NOT tech savvy. I am one of those folks that if I find something I like, I stick with it. I really can't say anything about the galaxy as I have never had one. I'm not much help, but wanted to offer my small 2 cents

My brother has been an apple/ iPhone user since the beginning of time... 2 months ago he decided to go with S4 and loves it.

Amen. I think the 5S seems pretty awesome but I'm not a huge Apple fan.

Here are their spec sheets side by side if you were just going on machine capability:

I would have said Samsung, but since apple released their new iOS, I am finding my opinion has shifted back to Apple.

The iPhone 5S is what I would go with. I switched from the S4 back to my iPhone because of a few glitches with Androids OS. It was a great phone but it crashed a lot and the OS is not as snappy as Apples iOS. And the plastic back and screen shatter easy.

Im looking to pickup a Note III but I would go the S4... Not big on the Mac stuff... they are good for non power users I guess.

There's just so much more you can do on android, that isn't possible on the iPhone. However I'm a hug phone customizer, and don't like much of any thing that's stock.
Expandable storage is also a huge thing for me. Want more for an iPhone? Too bad. Want more on (most any) androids? Pop a micro SD in, bam more storage.

I've had an iPhone 4 for forever, and my upgrade is coming up. I think I'm going to go with a Galaxy. I have a Nexus 7 tablet that runs on Android, and it's a lot more intuitive to me than Apple. It has it's uses, but the business I'm working on runs almost everything through Google, so Android just makes more sense with its wide compatibility and open-source format.
The only downside is viruses, but I use Avast! as my security system, and it works like a charm.

S4. Great phone. I don't like apple stuff to begin with. But androids are great, what ever storage you want with a removable sd card.

iPhone 5S or Samsung Galaxy S4?
I had an iphone 4 and upgraded to an s3. Hated the s3 so i traded back and got the iphone 5. Havent had a single complaint with the iphone 5.
Im used to apple stuff from wayyyy back when i got my first ipod. Im not big on the extreme customization crap that androids offer. Its just not something that appeals to me as a feature, i just don't care lol. The iphone has enough customization options for me. I like the size of the iphone better too. I have normal sized hands but couldnt navigate all of the s3's screen with just one hand which i found really annoying. The swype texting feature was another thing that i just didn't care for and without using that the s3's keyboard wasn't as fast as the iphones i was used to. The camera on the iphone was better too. I took better pics and it was faster. I mainly use my phone for forum browsing on tapatalk, Facebooking, texting/calling, email, camera for taking pics and as a navigation device. I sometimes listen to music but its rare. I dont play games or watch movies so i have no need for a huge screen. I don't get wrapped up in a ton of different apps and crap so all the customization stuff is just useless fluff to me. I LIKE the iphones smaller size so it can fit it my pocket more easily.
Thats just my rant. Others will agree/disagree but thats how i see it from my *personal experience* with both phones. Imo you really cant talk crap unless you've tried both and decided that way. Ultimately its up to you to decide what you need/want to get out of your phone and who will be able to do it better for you. :)

Re: iPhone 5S or Samsung Galaxy S4?
You can do SO much stuff you can do with galaxy s4 and so limited constricted with iphone. Yet, iphone has more up-to-date apps but it doesnt make that much of difference.

I have had my Galaxy S4 for 3 months now and I love it, I did Flash a custom Rom to my phone to get rid of all of the bloatware and I couldn't be happier with the result. I hear a lot of people complain about the hang time or lag on their S4, but I don't get any.

It's all in what you're looking for in a phone. With Android if you don't like something change it from the keyboard to the total layout of the phone. Apple is kind of like going to a 3 star restaurant no salt and pepper shakers on the table. The way they see it is the way it come to the table is they way they think you'll enjoy it. So if you like to fiddle with things and tweak every last nanopixle then go anyother phone than iPhone.
P.S Android is an operationg system iPhone is a hardware device you can't compare hardware to software.

I recommend the SwiftKey keyboard app in you go android!

I've been using android smart phones since the first "droid" came out in 2009. The android OS has come a LONG way since then. Their improvements have put them on par with the iphone and on some levels, they surpass it. With the release of iOS 7, we see a lot of improvements that android has had for a while now.
My issue is that the iphone really has not changed much in terms of UI since it was released in 2007. We've seen some minor features added, and some even copied straight from android.
Don't get me wrong, the Iphone is a great product and I like them a lot myself, but I would never buy one.
1. No user freedom. You get what you get and that is all. No customization.
2. No expandable memory. My mom just ran into this problem on her iphone... she is out of storage space for her photos and video and not being very tech savvy, she has no idea what to do.
3. Small screen. It is just way too small for me. My Galaxy Nexus fits great in my tiny hand and its screen is almost double the size of the iphone.
4. Removable/replaceable battery. This might not matter to most iphone users, but I like the ability to pull my battery and replace it if needed.
As for android glitches, they are few and far between. I dropped my phone in water a few months ago and it has been a little glitchy since then, but it was probably my fault.
When it comes to the actual phone, the S4 is not my top pick. I will be picking up the note 3 in a couple weeks because I love the S-pen functionality and most of all I love the giant screen! I rarely use my phone for actual phone calls, so the screen real estate is much more valuable to me than how it fits in my hand. I also really like the Moto X and the HTC One. They are all solid phones really. You can't go wrong!

Too add, if you want a bigger battery you can buy a larger grade battery and molded back for the phones. It limits your case selections because they aren't normal, but you can do that.
I also know people who carry a spare fully charged battery with them just in case.

Re: iPhone 5S or Samsung Galaxy S4?
If its between the s4 and 5s then go with the s4 the galaxy note is better but also bigger then the s4. I love my s2 and cant wait to upgrade next month to the s4. I have a few friends who have had nothing but iphones since they came out 1 switched to a galaxy note 2 and the other 2 switched to a galaxy s3
