lock-ups?
Hello everyone, this is my first year trying to breed ball pythongs, I think I've seen them lock up but dont know if they were, does it only count if I see the actual genitals in?

Ya, im setting up my home made incubator. Using a submersible adjustable water heater with a another tub inside with Vermiculite, I was debating on putting an egg crate on top verses partially burying the eggs. Im only a couple weeks into cycling so have a good while before I expect anything. I do have one question though. Since obe noticed several lockups is it ok to starư warming back up or should I go another month and a half plus?

The first picture they are close if not locked, the second picture he's come in from the wrong angle, so if they are locked, they won't be for long.

I like to see one or both of their tails curled before I call it a guaranteed lock.
The male especially, since he's pushing his junk into her trunk, he's typically going to have a curled tail from pushing. Females curled tail pretty much guarantee she's on board

Ya im not sure if she's on board yet or not, the male has been refusing food for weeks now, but the female has been eating.

That is what she's supposed to be doing.
My females tend to eat until they are in glow, stopping about 2-4 weeks before ovy.
You want to keep both of them on feed as long as possible.

Thanks I didn't know that, I knew some snakes still ate but didn't know that's what she should be doing. Is there a way to tell if the cycling has been working for her too? I know she should be building follicles.

Update.. after seeing a few possible lock ups the male no longer seems interested and no more lock ups in almost 2 weeks. I've heard of putting male sheddings in, showing him to another male and letting another male scent up the girls cage. All I have is a young, 250 gram pastel boy, would this work with him to stimulate the larger 1000 gram male to breed again?

Yes, palpate her to feel for follicles.

No need to add extra stress to your small male...They only need to be introduced once a month, so not locking in the last two weeks is no biggie...

Thanks, but for future refference will a non sexually mature male still be enough to make the other male "jealous" and breed again? Also im no good at feeling for follicles, but the bottom portion of her belly does look wider
