    New Carpet
So I had to get rid of my big boa female, which broke my heart - but part of that transaction involved getting this little 0.1 Jaguar Carpet Python.

Very active little thing but not bitey or aggressive and no neurological issues.

Sucks you had to get rid of your boa, but you wound up with a pretty consolation prize. :gj:

Not really no. They're not thick bodied like bps, they get longer (7ft or so for jungles) but only about as thick as a bp and they have a long arboreal style thin tail. I'm 5‘3 105lbs and can handle an adult without issue. An equal length boa would give me trouble though.

In addition, I've never handled a full grown coastal (which I believe is the largest carpet) but they get about 8-9 I think. I would imagine they would be similar and not too difficult to handle either, but I don't speak from experience with that species.

    Re: New Carpet
The reason I switched from Boa's to carpets is due largely to the fact that my new room mate is worried that the boa would escape and go after one of his cats. I figured because the carpets were much thinner bodied animals, I could still have my big snake without worrying about it getting one of the cats if it ever got out (which it wouldn't). But he just emailed me an article from Australia in which a carpet python killed a cat...

    UGH.

Ouch...unfortunately carpets are really good at eating things about 1.5-2x their girth...so yea.. it "could" happen. But really, the chances are pretty darn slim I would think. Hmmm...maybe if you put enough padlocks on the cage he'll feel better about it? :confusd:

He's pretty reasonable about things but he gets a bit paranoid about the cats. I had 3 locks on my boa cage and I had my boa for 3 years. I have 2 cats and it never got out, never hurt the cats.

    I dunno... LOL

Well I have her now and I will enjoy her :)
