Ball Python with duct tape residue

I have some duct tape in my cage that is hold up some cords. Last night I noticed my snake was sitting on top of the cords just hanging out. She wasn't stuck to my knowledge. Anyways, I took her out a few minutes ago and in one very tiny spot she has alittle bit of duct tape residue on her. How can I get this off? Should I just wait until she sheds? I'm glad that she doesen't have a bunch of it all over her.

Uh oh. Any tape inside the enclosure usually leads to bad news. Especially duct tape. If it was to come off due to humidity, and your snake slithered over it, you'd have some troubles there. Pulling it off could pull the skin right off the snake. It happened to someone here. :(
I don't know exactly how to get it off. But I will say try to get that duct tape out of there. If you need something to keep wires or cords up, what about suction cups? :)

Check out this thread here: http://www.ball-pythons.net/index.ph...ight=duct+tape for some more information on duct tape in an enclosure. If its not that bad, you may want to wait until the next shed. It should come off then. You could always try a nice tepid bath to try to unstick the residue.

Try gently rubbing the spot with some mineral oil, then let it sit for a while. It might take a bit for it to work, but it should help.

Definitely take all the tape out of the enclosure. You are lucky it wasn't worse. What do the cords go to?

The cords go to the temperature/humidity gauge.

Sorry to hear about the tape, I have used small peices of velcro before and it has worked well.
Where in So, Cal do you play hockey? Ice or Roller?

Just let the cords hang and maybe hide with plants and secure under deco, etc. My probe and thermostat cords run along the back corner of my BPs tank and I placed a plant on top to hide it. Then it runs along the ground and I secured them in place by placing the edge of his half log over them. That way he can't move them.

How about zip ties? I have those holding most of my comp wires, and it looks very clean and neat. Maybe that would work.

Can I just soak her underneath the running faucet water?

I have a bottle of reptile relief that I applied to the surface of where the residue is. Maybe that will help...

I looked at the part of her today where the residue is at. There is alittle bit of blood and it looks like it's gotten worse. It looks like more of the skin is being pulled up. What should I do?

Yikes, I don't know!? Maybe a trip to the vet is in order.

I don't really have any experience with a case like this, but I don't see how a bath could hurt, just make sure it's not too warm. Someone else suggested mineral oil, did you try that?

No, I didn't try that. I went out to Petco and bought a bottle of that "Reptile Wound Healing Aid." I decided I'll try that before I make a trip to the vet that is going to cost me alot. Hopefully it will work.
