Let me clear this up.
So I know a lot of you still hate me because I said I hate Balls. (Can't blame you... I said I hated something you love). I was pretty mad already because someone who I know (and I gave lots of info on Ball Pythons and how to care for them) got his first ball python, and let it die because he didn't care for it, and didn't ask for help. Plus (going to be very subtle about this) someone here had said something about money, and I went overboard. I do not hate or dislike them, as they're innocent and did nothing to me or anyone else, I just got upset because since they're probably the most popular pet, you see them the most = you also see them being mistreated the most. They still aren't my favorite, but I wanted to apologize and let you know I don't HATE them. They do have their own interesting features, and they're fun to hangout with, and I won't lie about that. I didn't mean to rant, I just got overwhelmed. And there are not a whole lot of snake enthusiasts around here, so whenever there's a snake that is not being taken care of and/or abused (locally), it's a small community so it's easy to hear about, and I hate it. And I'm the type of person who'd take ALL of them in if I could do so, so it's hard for me to hear about snakes being neglected. I do know that a lot of Ball Python keepers do take great care of their snakes, and I don't mean to sound like all keepers are horrible, mean people (or I'd be one, too!), because I know a lot of Ball Keepers do a good job caring for their snakes. anyways, I hope that there's no hard feelings, and I didn't mean to "diss" on your favorite animal/snake

Let me clear this up.
It's very mature of you to come back and clear things up, and I hope others will act in kind and accept your apology (and you!) with open arms.
Being that we all participate in such a misunderstood hobby (regardless of the species), it feels especially hurtful to hear such contention from one of our own.
I'm sorry to hear about your friend's snake- that can be so frustrating to watch. Unfortunately, neglect, mistreatment, and abuse happen with all types of animals. Thousands of goldfish are living in small, unfiltered bowls. High energy dogs like huskies are bought with the expectation that they will stand living in an apartment with a ten minute romp a day, and then get sent to the shelter for acting out. Show horses get sold for meat as soon as an injury renders them unable to perform at the level desired. But not all fish, dog, or horse owners do that. Some, like yourself, really do feel for the animal. Should you hate all huskies? No, just don't get one if it doesn't fit your lifestyle.
We all want the best for our animals here. The misinformed are educated, and the willfully ignorant are sassed (I believe you got a taste of that yourself). The unethical breeders are called out and warned against consistently. They exist, but hopefully not for long.
Instead of raging against the industry, do what you can to change it for the better. Fight the uphill battle because the animals are worth it- even the "pet rocks." You're welcome to post your concerns about mistreatment, or ask for advice to approach your friend about a suffering animal. It may be too late for that individual snake, but someone here is always happy to vent their frustrations with you. Be kind, and be treated kindly in return.
Welcome to the forums!

Excellent post! And so very true!!
Especially the husky part. I am in no means a snake expert... but my friend and I got our hatchling balls, same day, same vendor. She told me she was highly knowledgeable because her brother kept them for many years.
I listened to her, got a lot of the wrong stuff. (Don't worry it was fixed within days).
Any how... after a month hers passed away and she couldn't understand why???
All she had was a heating pad on a 10 gal tank. With reptile carpet. She ran her ac constantly. She refused to do it any differently, claiming "all they need is the pad to stay warm". She had one hide and it was open on two sides cuz she wanted to "see" him. Did not have a thermometer let alone a hygrometer.
Her reason for it passing was... it must have been sick when I got it.

Definitely sounds like she's an expert!... that's basically what my friend did, even though I told him exactly how to care for his snake. Really ticked me off.

That was the most mature thing I've seen you post. I have to give you props for coming on here and trying to make amends for your comments.
Some friendly advice for the future. Think very carefully before you post. I spend a while constructing a controversial posts. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but sometimes those opinions are going to step on a lot of toes. So if you have things to say that you know is going to get under people's skin, than you have to be prepared for the backlash, and be prepared to support your argument. I don't think anyone was upset that you didn't like ball pythons - people were angry that you generalized the ball python community as greedy and abusive when it comes to our animals and that's just not true. Yes, there is a number of people who do not take proper care of their animals, and without making this personal, a drawer is not an appropriate enclosure for a boa. So you came across as someone who was both judgemental and hypocritical. That's where you were met with hostility.
I have a buddy who let his RTB die because he didn't take proper care of it, and he is a reptile hobbyist. Doesn't like ball pythons, has bloods, boas, carpets. I have never had a health issue with the exception of minor respiratory infections which I treated immediately. I am a much more responsible herp keeper than he is, and I have a substantial amount of ball pythons compared to other reptiles I keep. But it just goes to show that the type of reptile one prefers says nothing about how well they take care of said animals.
I do appreciate this post, and it's the first step towards fixing the damage your reputation has taken.
Goodluck. :)
Regards,
Chris.

You know what I think? I think that ... purple monkey dishwasher :weirdface

Thanks, Chris. I appreciate it a lot. Like I said, I just got a little heated and a lot of stupid for a minute. btw: I was jist curios: What do you mean "a drawer is not an appropriate enclosure for a Boa"? I think you might be refer to the junky enclosure I have my Dumeril's in. If so; I bought a tub for her, which was too small, so I ordered a Boaphile 421D, and I'm keeping her in that until it gets here, and I can set it up, get temps right, all that good stuff.

I guess 6 feet seemed a little smaller before I got her lol I bought a singular unit 421D for $230, which kind of sucks. I just noticed last night that two costs $250. I tried to contact Boaphile and ask if I could pay the difference, and get the double unit, but no reply so far. Hopefully I can, since my two BCI's will need those eventually.

That must mean that one guy in the other thread was right about the pinstripe lol. I'm picking with you man :P
Yea it's all good dude, you just have to keep it calm when somebody says something you don't like instead of flipping out. That will get you enemies quicker then anything. This can be vouched for by several people who randomly read a review I posted of a seller(won't mention names).

Re: Let me clear this up.
Things have been pretty rocky since you first got here, but it looks like you understand what happened and what went wrong. I respect that. Thank you and I also apologize for the tone in some of my posts even though I don't agree with everything you say.
Cheers.

Didn't I see you just get a little salty about some hides and decide to go back and forth even though your stating to stay calm? Little confused, but hey what do I know, I just read post cause I'm bored.
